durian. what a fruit!

In the old Webster's dictionary (circa 1976), it refers to Durian as "Tropical southeast asian fruit known for its soft meat and hard shell . . . and it STINKS."

Each year, about 10-20 people die when those damn things fall out of the tree and brain them.

My parents told me those fruit bombs never drop themselves on people's heads b/c the fruits got eyes that can see and they drop during middle of night. I guess my parents are wrong again.

But really, those white, gooey flesh in the middle of durian is so good, we make pastries, dessert, drinks, ice creams out of them. Americans just puke when they smell it. You guys are so weak. And George Bush hates southeast asians.

Havent heard anything since hopkins on the 14th. Got 5 interviews in 4 days and then nothing...Actualy called a couple of programs to make sure they hadnt sent me anything that I missed. Hearing them say 'not yet' just made it worse.

Well at least they didn't say you're rejected! 👍

Hey idiopathic, you've got a date with hopkins already. You are so money, you don't even know it. Act cool, relax, don't call them, and they'll call you. 🙂

**Quick question for you guys:

Have any of you applied to transitional programs that have a significant amount of surgery time? If so, what were your reasons? In my clicking frenzy during applying, I sort of chose a program that I had not really researched (I just recalled that a CA1 said that it was good) and after getting an interview invite I went online to discover that you have to do like 3 months of surgery - I barely made it through my 10 week clerkship). Also, with surgery - as an intern will you be scutted out or doing actual cases albeit basic ones (i.e. appies, choles, etc). I wouldn't mind the latter. Thanks!

Received an invite today 10/02 via email

they will provide hotel accomodations the night before if you don't go to school in houston. the email address for the residency coordinator is wrong in the email they sent - so you need to call the office to set up your date.

Congrats Becky - yesterday was good day - lots of action! Do you know the actual number of us AZCOMer's applying for anesthesiology - the list sent around during didactics had a pretty large number!

UAB (9/6)
UIC (9/19) no dates just an invite - a little weird
MCG (10/3)
Vanderbilt (10/3)

Thanks Sugar! Yeah, it seems as if AZCOM is filled with budding anesthesiologists. Hope we are all able to match! Personally, I'm a little freaked out 😱 at all the interest, only because I'm average to say the least. But at least I've got charisma! 😀 Hope to see you on the interview trail!

UTMB-10/3 (e-mail)
Miami-10/3(e-mail)

*Anyone got any info on Louisville's program? They're not offering to pay for hotel, unfortunately as cash strapping as this whole process is going to be I may not schedule with them.

good to be back. How many of you guys are going to interview at MMC? Seems like I read somewhere that it's hard to match there unless you rotate with them.
