Hey!

I was wondering if there is anyone here that is going to the interview on Nov. 15. I'm looking forward to it. Looking to possible split a cab or something from the nearest airport (wherever that is).

I am not trying to rain on your parade but the nearest airport is about 2 hours away. I don't know if you could even convince a cab to travel that far and even if you did I am sure the fare would be outrageous.

Get thee a rental car and enjoy the drive.

I will be flying in on Friday to TRI airport, flying out Sunday. Haven't booked my flight yet, but what time do you fly in/out to see if carpooling is possible?

I haven't book my flight yet either. My plan is to fly in on friday and hopefully leave saturaday although sunday is fine. Let's see if we can't get something going. PM me and I'll forward the details.

I have an interview on the 15th also. Where is everyone staying that weekend? It would be fun to hang out with some people who have interviews that weekend so that we will have something fun to do.

OHHH you guys are lucky to get an interview so early! I submitted my supp. applcation early but no luck?

I stayed at the holiday inn when i went for an interview, it's nice and modern. Though, it seems out of place next to the old stores/buildings. The area is very secluded, I barely got any phone service. Be prepared and GOOD LUCK on the interview!

I interviewed Nov. 16 and got my acceptance the week after.

My advice to you are the following:

-Bring a GPS with you when you drive from TRI cities to VA.
-The GPS will be useless when you actually get to the town so you'll have to do it the old fashion way via map. I suggest you find the location the day before the interview.
-DON'T bring a parent or significant other with you to the interview. Some people actually did and it was so unprofessional and embarrassing. If you do, make them wait in the car.
-Hint: the admissions staff and students there can be your greatest allies.
-I met with some of the students the day before, and they gave me great insight into the interviews. At UACP, they're not really looking for right or wrong answers (per-say) to their interview questions; they're looking for the reasoning behind your answers.
-During the introductory session with the dean, make to ask A LOT of GOOD questions. -Don’t ask questions with answers that are already stated on their website. It shows lack of research.

My best advice is to just be yourself and come prepared. I did a mock interview with some faculty members from my school and that really helped a lot because, for me, saying it out loud was much harder than just having planned out what I'd like to say. Don't be nervous, I've never met anyone from there who wasn't extremely friendly. I would definitely read their mission and goal statement so you have an idea of what the college is all about (they are extremely dedicated to serving regions that have insufficient medical care..such as the Appalachian area). As for bringing a parent, I wouldn't say it's a bad thing. They're welcome to the interview and I was actually encouraged to bring mine. I'm glad I did so because I think it's important for your parents, or spouse, to see where you're going to be investing $120,000+ and 3-4 years of your life. I went to another interview last week at a different school and there was only one person there without their parents....at UACP, the faculty will tell you that's it's about 50/50. I got accepted also so I don't think that bringing your parents will hurt you in anyway.....to me, it's just a personal choice.

I agree with Jdario86, don't bring a parent because it is highly unprofessional and you are applying to a professional school. Also a GPS is helpful especially when your driving at night... (I thought I was going crazy) With that being said... here's my feedback...

I thought that the school was very quaint and nice. They are building a new building for their pharmacy school right next door that looks like a potential bonus.

***However it is out in the middle of nowhere... and I mean nowhere... which can be a good or bad thing. UACP seems to want to make good community pharmacist... and are on their way to become an excellent school.

My interview was very relax, the most relax out of all my interviews thus far. They asked me some generic questions... easily answer if you have any background at all. Overall, my experience of the interview process was positive... and if you are a qualified canadiate... (which you probably are if you got an invite), you should be fine. I don't know what the rate of acceptance is... but I think it maybe quite high.

Thanks everyone for the advice! I'm surprised they invited me to interview because I am from a busy city in California. I'm excited about it though! Does it snow there? I've never driven in snow before and will be travelling alone.

I got an interview invitation for Dec. 13th!! Hey pharmtechgirl26, I noticed you got an interview invitation as well. Where are you planning to stay? The email says there are limited seats left, so it sounds a little discouraging. In addition to that, we have to rent a car and drive 2 hrs from the airport to the school?!?!? If you're still going, do you want to share the rental car? Im scared to drive by myself 🙁 Let me know. I'm from California too by the way.

I had my interview Dec 13th and received my acceptance letter on Monday the 20th. I will be accepting the offer.

I had already gotten accepted to hawaii last week. I'm pretty set on going there. I do feel bad though bc everyone was so nice and its a 3 year program but what really changed my mind is that its too remote and there's no federal loans. good luck to those who attend and those who really want to get in!

Those are excellent reasons for declining your seat. With no federal loans... you might as well go to a 4-year institution.

I think I'm the only one who got waitlisted!?.. lol... I guess my interviewing skills are horrible. Anyway, I'm not too sad about the waitlist because city life suits me more. The school was very isolated and it was mainly surrounded by mountains. My phone didn't work there... and yes the interest rate for loans are high also. They're waiting to get regionally accredited. On the other hand, the faculty and students there are very nice and prompt. The school is definitely going in the right direction. Congrats to those who got accepted and will attend the school there.
