Congratz! I think you're the first here to get an interview offer in California. 😀

I applied to most of the California programs but have yet to hear anything.

As for UCI, I think it is well regarded. 👍

I have no idea which ones I want to cancel. What criteria are you using EMapplicant? Feel bad cancelling them; spent so much money already throughout the whole process. I just have no idea where I want to be in the US. I am very adaptable. Yeah, I cannot stop checking my bloody email. People think I am turning OCD! Take care y'all.

I'm shooting for about 12 interviews, I think. So far I have 7 scheduled, so there's no need to cancel any.

OCD I almost wish all interview invites came out at a set time...

Think about it - after four years of college and four years of medical school, your fate rests in the hands of an administrative assistant who may have earned a GED. Aren't you glad you paid those MCAT fees, took those long, heart-stabbing exams, ponied the price for the USMLE, and sent your cash to ERAS 😀

Seriously - these things happen and they happen in the real world. I have always been a firm believer in calling programs you want to interview with. It worked well for me...

Gotta problem with people who have thier GED???? 😡

(edit: Make that 10--please don't tell the programs I can't count. In my defense, eclectic eleven has a better sound to it.)

I incidentally have no problem with people with GEDs or any other potentially offensive letters.

As for canceling interviews, I have started thinking about that since I have some programs I?m really excited about and haven?t heard from a few more I had high Pre Test interest in, but I?m thinking I?m going to use above 12 as the number to start to prune back a little.

Thanks for the reply EMapplicant. I do not know that much about the UTSW program. I just asked because it is of local interest to me.

For those of you interviewing at Mayo, it is, IMHO, nicer at the Marriott than the Kahler. Both are good (and paid for! 🙂 ) but the Marriott is newer. And, as with any other program, go to dinner the night before if at all possible.

BTW - It is a FANTASTIC program! I truly believe that it will very soon be considered as prestigious as Mayo's other residency programs. Of course, I am a bit biased, it was my #1, and I haven't regretted it for a second. 👍 PM me if you have any questions.

im hoping post nov 1st i'll get a lot more... but you're right, i'm taking a big risk. but after doing my rotation at county, i think i realized more what type of program i'm looking for.
