Interviews

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
That's weird that Wake sent out that letter saying interviews would be sent mid-november...and then invites people end of october.

They finished going through the applications sooner than anticipated and heard how many programs were offering pre-Deans letter interviews at ACEP. I think we felt that there was no good reason to wait.

FYI, I would say that less than half of these programs were offering interviews at this time last year.

Tampa and Orlando aren't south enough for you? 🙂

Q

Add kalamazoo to the list. Sorry Quinn but I do not consider Tampa and Orlando as the south.

Yes, nothing south of jacksonville is "the south." I call it the "Sweet tea cut-off line."

We are starting to get some Southern Lovin'. Columbia, SC yesterday via snail mail. Also, got Wake Forest the other day.

I just checked my ERAS tracking system and it looks like my Dean's letter went up yesterday (10/30). Seems someone in their office was working on the weekend.

Sadly, my last LOR is STILL not up yet. Grrr.

Good luck everyone!

Take care,
Jeff

Anyone remember how quickly invites came after dean's letters are released? Was it like a week after, several days after, or do the "flood gates" open the day they are released?

Good luck to all as the Dean's Letters heads off. I honestly don't see why any programs should wait on this thing but hey, hopefully we'll all have a number of interviews coming in.

Add Indiana to the list. Just got it this morning. Also, is anyone else who was offered an interview at St. Luke's-Roosevelt having trouble scheduling an interview? I sent my reply with possible dates back two hours after I got the email and I just got a reply that all their dates had filled and they were opening more.

Several days after. It seemed to be like a trickle that grew into a stream then subsided all in about three weeks.

I had no problems with scheduling at St.Lukes. Even changed the date without trouble. Guess I chose the unpopular days?

I see that a few of the other students have received notifications from a few schools that I was informed was waiting for my dean's letter. How should I view this news?

bb- I wouldn't worry about it. Who knows what factors go into "early" invites... Maybe people rotated at the program, or maybe there's some factor in their app that the program jumped at. Regardless, I'm sure they'll be sending out more invites soon...

Good luck!

December is locked here. There are two dates in january and one in nov. only 2 people have turned down invites. *eep* its getting crowded.

Nothing close to six today but I will gladly take these two. Denver and EVMS-Norfolk.

I have been trying to figure this out but still not really sure. Do you have to apply to a transitional year for Denver or do they automatically place you in a spot? Hope I didn't screw up.

rejected from boston 🙁

me too. 👎

I'm getting the feeling that this thread is saturated with overachievers... people being bummed that they're only getting Denver or Jacobi??? good grief. 😛

Oh well. One more shot for me to have a chance to drop in to see that Harvard-Maine hockey game... 🙁

Mayo by email today.

I guess I need to go ahead and get that heavy overcoat for the interview. I've heard a rumor Rochester gets a wee bit nippy in December.

Take care,
Jeff

Sorry to hear about the rejection. There are a lot of programs I'm waiting to hear from that haven't given me the time of day. Wish you the best of luck.

Jacobi didn't feel the year before on match...... 🙂

When I interviewed there, I ended up not ranking it.

just heard from university of chicago via phone (did a rotation there) and fresno by email. anyone with any thoughts about the program at fresno? i'd really appreciate it. good luck to all.

????Does anyone know what is a good # of interviews to schedule for a moderately competitive applicant????

10 interviews gives you over 90% match rate, and like 75% match rate in your top three. If you are competitive, I seriously wouldn't do more than ten.

just heard from Einstein in Philly - anyone know much about there or Jefferson? I prob only want to go to 2 of Temple/Jefferson/Einstein, anyone have any input???

By phone? U of Chicago is still on my 'most wanted' list. Haven't heard from them though.

As for Fresno, i've heard the program described as an up and coming one, albeit not in the greatest location (central cali).

Congrats! That's 2 sweet interviews for you today. 👍 👍
