FYI for those interested ... OSU is interviewing approximately 450 people of the around 874 applicants they had this year. Interviews are going on into early February.

Thanks for the info! It seems perfectly normal that they have still not gotten back to me (I submitted my supplemental in early October), but it still doesn't help with the waiting! Anyway, I'm just keeping my fingers crossed!

That seems like a ton of people to interview! That makes the chances seem really slim...
 
Ohio State has a large class size, and most schools accept more than their class size, so probably a lot more people than you may initially think will get accepted!
 
That's true. Also, I didn't really think about that being both residents and non-residents, so it's probably not that bad. 🙂
 
Ohio State has a class size of about 140 and I think that from the waitlist they get into the 30s (not positive on that though). The nice thing about OSU is they interview almost everyone that meets a certain set of requirements (GPA and GRE mainly).

I'll be there 1/19 as long as I can get a flight that works... I'm having trouble finding decent flight schedules from the NY/NJ area.

See if bluejet or southwest flies to where you're going - those fares are fantastic. To Columbus, OH it's about $70 one way, with taxes.
 
Oh that would be a fantastic fare if I were going to be flying to OSU from NY/NJ ... unfortunately I'm gonna be flying from DFW to Columbus so it'll be a bit more expensive I'm sure. I will check out Southwest for KSU though, thanks!
 
Yeah Southwest is cheap into KCI (although the airport symbol is MCI, go figure).

We are having a pizza party for my interview date, BUT its not a SDN pizza party =o( I am just kidding, of course. I am very happy just to have an interview. =o)

Were you able to book on jetblue's website? When I try searching for Columbus, nothing comes up!

I thought it was MCI because it's actually in Missouri as opposed to Kansas. Just across the border.
 
Megabus.com is also an extremely affordable way to travel...although destinations are quite limited...

Not all airports go to Columbus, but I was able to find it. Southwest was cheaper, though. Good luck!

He said they do all the dual interviews on the 24th and that I will just have a normal interview on the 25th. I spoke with the dean a few months ago and he said normal interviews will happen on Fridays in January. Hope that helps!

Oh no, thanks a lot you guys! Up until now I've been relaxed because none of the schools that I've applied to have shown up on this list. Now I have to start worrying.

Thanks RemyRipper315 - I always forget which schools use which abbreviations (or are they acronyms). Anyway, something I've been wondering is why some places you seee DVM and other places you see VMD. Would you be able to explain?

I thought UPenn was the only one that did VMDs...
 
VMD stands for Veterinariae Medicinae Doctoris, and Penn is the only school that awards this degree.
 
Penn is the only one where students earn the VMD degree (Veterinariae Medicinae Doctoris). The vet school has its roots in Penn’s School of Medicine. I think on my interview day last year someone asked why VMD and not DVM, and they said they thought the other vet schools would follow suit with the degree name, but didnt.. (not to be snobby)!

dont worry if you haven't gotten an interview yet...! i interviewed 1/12 last year and received a letter around christmas time (can't remember before or after) for an interview. food animal/equine people had different interview fridays in february! i think they finished up interviews around the end of february. so, dont worry yet!!! there is plenty of time yet to receive interview invitations! 🙂 i know it is jsut reeeeeally nerve-wracking to wait........

Penn only interviews on Fridays, I believe they interview 30 people each session. I believe last year they notified people two weeks before their interview date. They started interviews 1/12 (I believe) and the last week of interviews was February 23rd.

Geez, they don't give you guys a lot of time! The price we pay to get into vet school, so worth it 🙂
 
Hey everyone, I just found SDN and I love this interviews link! So far, I've been notified by a couple of schools. I had my Ohio State interview on 12/5 and I have my Kansas state interview on 1/19. I'll be seeing some of you at the pizza party!

Should be interesting because it's the day before my interview at OSU. I just bought the plane tickets to Ohio last night and now have to reschedule the flight. But it's def worth it! 😍
