Hey. I searched for this but the answers are gray area. On aamcomas it says you need a year of organics. Well, I go to a quarter system school and theres intro, org 1 with lab, and org 2 with lab. Do I really need the intro? I thought one needed 8 hours of organics, and those three classes along with the labs are 8 hrs. Can someone aware me?

Organic 1 and 2 will be fine.

Interesting, I just checked my school, and the intro is a prerequisite to org. 1. wtf...I have to take it lol. I guess it's okay, the budget cuts here in Louisiana have cancelled org. 1 for the fall anyway. Hopefully it will be taught winter qtr and org. 2 in spring, so I can take that mcat right after.

BTW, to all of you who know about the book organic chem as a second language ( 1 & 2), do you know if there is an ebook version? thanks

At a school where one of my friends went, they had an intro to organic course, but it was for health science majors. Not sure how that works at your school.

Also, I used the Organic Chemistry I for Dummies book (and the second semester counterpart as well) and found it to be a good outline for studying.

Well you originally asked in the context of applying to medical school, not to what your UG requires. Had you researched this with your school first you wouldn't have even needed to make this thread.

Just google to see if there is an e-book version.

I know that. I meant that it is interesting that my school would force students to take intro as a prereq to org. 1, whenever most people are saying med student applicants dont need it.

It sounds like with the Intro class you get a full year of orgo, which is what med schools are looking for. Your school just seems to have a weird setup for it.
