Is 3 weeks enough time to study for NBDE I????

I am taking my test on July 10 and I was wondering if 3 weeks is enough time. I see people here spending 3-4 months because they want to score 90+ but if I just want to score like 80-85, is 3 weeks enough?

I just completed the first 2 yrs of dental school so some stuff is fresh. I am struggling with biochem because I took that first year and don't remember a thing.

i have studied for 3 months since i have just graduated and almost forgot most of the basic sciences..

right now i am waiting for the results.. but to be honest with you 3 weeks are nothing! i have seen most of current student (like you) took 4-5 weeks to prepare for this exam But they have studied +10 hrs/day, something i can not do

and most of them got +90

even if you dont want a 90, still you should talk to people like Thunderdome23, since he prepared for 5 wks with a 90 result

he can help you more than me

but in case you couldnt find any help, i would say go quickly through cards for 1 time and reserve 1.5 wks for exams only, and dont do quantity but quality (i.e. after you solve an exam, try to learn why you got that mistake instead of memorizing answers since the new exam format is totally different with only 20-30 repeated Qs, But still some other questions test similar areas tested by Qs in released Q)

If you did well in your first couple of years, than you have a shot. Do couple of released exams, get them off your friends if you don't have any. If you do really well, then for sure you can do it. If you fail miserably, than you have your answer, and should postpone if possible. Couple of extra weeks can make a huge difference. I studied for 4mo, but I've been our for 5 yrs, if I wrote this exam right after 2 yrs of dental school, I would have had a much easier time w/ it for sure. Good luck. (you can postpone 2 business days before your exam)

the reason I say 3 weeks because that's all the time our school gave us off to study. They think 3 weeks is enough time and some of the D3s say they only used 2 weeks.

I just hope I pass. I heard that if you get a raw score of about 55% then that equates to std score of 75. Is that right? Thanks

I studied for 3 weeks max and passed comfortably. Just make sure you're studying during those 3 weeks and not goofing off.

Our school gave us over 2 months off for studying/vacay and most people spent more time wasting time at the library until the 2-3 weeks before the exam until they finally buckled down.

3 weeks is plenty of time. I just wanted to pass as well. I read through the decks once and took two practice tests. I did it in two weeks. Ended up with an 80 on part I. 😛

yes, I think that's right, but of course you don't want to be cutting it this close. Also that equates to over 220/400 questions right, which you should be able to get easily, especially if you study. Also remember you have to pass each section individually.

You don't have to pass each section individually anymore. It changed for the class who just graduated. Which is good in my opinion.

Did anybody use Kaplan Q bank?

I am getting really scared because I am getting like 50% on those. I will do some ASDA reprints tomorrow and see if those are easier..

I did Kaplan Q bank, and I found it useless, I used to read the explanations and used it as a study tool and not to gauge my performance, because it's much more difficult than the real exam, when u practice the ASDA papers u'll know what I mean and they will encourage u and show ur weaknesses without letting u down like Kaplan! so my advice is, do as much ASDA papers as possible and if u have time read the Kaplan Q bank, or read the dental anatomy questions part only, the whole thing in my opinion, is a waste of time.

Just wondering, why do you say it's useless? I mean you don't understand how scared I feel right now because I am going through Kaplan Q bank and I am scoring the range of 50% or so.

I will start taking ASDA reprints tests from tonight and see how I do on those. Thanks

the reason I found it let's say "not so helpful" is because the questions were either too easy or too difficult and irrelevent, I used to read here that the Q bank was meant to be for USMLE and when I read the questions many of them made me feel that way too, it's like they added the dental anatomy part and called it "NBDE Q bank"
my main source in studying was Kaplan lecture notes, maybe that's why I found some of the questions too easy because I already read them in the book and they were straightforward, but that might be just me. is it just me or the Anatomy from old old asda tests (1989 and older) are HARD?

I am getting so nervous..my test is coming up in a week
