I prefer EK materials but you should check out both to see which you prefer. You can look at PR and Kaplan books at any book store and can see a preview of EK material on their website.

correction. Kaplan's and i believe TPRs material that they give to their course students are not the same as the barnes and nobles stuff that you can get on ebay. You can't find the kaplan student material except in the kaplan class.

Actually I took the Kaplan course last year and the material was identical to that available at B&N. The only difference between them was that material from the class was divided into separate books for each subject where as the material at B&N was all in one massive book (with smaller print).

Their other materials such as practice test can be found on EBAY. And if you purchase the book from B&N you get a test included that is identical to one of their practice tests. However no matter what test prep you use, the official aamc practice tests should be used.

If one only wants to use Kaplan material and does not need the lecture portion there is no need to pay for the class when all the material can be bought for a fraction of the cost.

Something else worth mentioning to us budget minded premeds is that your school library also has practice tests from a vareity of companies that you can check out. Also check with your premed advisor. Mine had three aamc tests on reserve at the library.

Again I beg to differ. While the you might be right about the science review portion the actual lesson book is only available through the course. The kaplan practice items are not available on eBay. The only thing available on ebay is stuff that's sold in stores like the comprehensive review and the mcat 45 books.

I compared the B&N Kaplan book I had last year to the science sections a friend had that was taking Kaplan. Identical.

The lesson plan? I bought one on Ebay, so I can guarantee they are available via that route.

I still used EK stuff though as better 'High Yield' and more interesting presentation. Also when combined with the Audio Osmosis I just feel it's taking advantage of all your learning modes which has to lead to better retension...

I give that the ol' 10-4. I'm taking the same route, EK AO and EK books. They present the material in a way that makes it seem less volumous and pretty basic.

Examkrackers prepares really well for the sciences. I recommend it to everyone. The books are focused and to the point and yet they still helped me with my systems physiology class. Examkracekrs really helps you think conceptually of science which is really important for the MCAT. (I hope i did well in the sciences on the April MCAT 🙄 )
