Is Interfolio Worth it? for Recommendation

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I used Interfolio and I still got in 2nd batch (the only reason I wasn't 1st batch was because one of my school's transcripts took FOREVER!) Interfolio only takes a few days to upload to AADSAS - it takes longer for your transcripts/GPA calculations. I think Interfolio is better because you can start collecting letters NOW and have months to get them into Interfolio, instead of tracking down teachers making sure they upload in June. I had all my letters in Interfolio between March and May. Good luck!

I will be re-applying this year to dental schools and the one thing I hate is that I have to track down my teachers again (who never reply to emails) and ask them to re-upload my letter of recommendations. I know interfolio allows you to save your letter of recommendations and then upload them yourself? so you do not have to constantly go back to your teachers if you need their letters of recommendation. However, I have heard there is some delay with uploading the letters to AADSAS. I have everything set up and want to be in the first batch.

Has anyone who has used interfolio had it move them back from first back to second or third batch? I know it seems trivial or silly but I need all the help I can get and I think if nothing else being first batch is only going to help you, so should I try interfolio and risk being 2nd or 3rd batch or ask the teachers to upload the letters themselves and then be almost assured of being first batch?

I presumed you have already been rejected by all of the schools you have applied to this cycle, so by all means reapply and Interfolio is a lifesaver for me, never had a delay or mistake for that matter.

I think it is. I'm applying this upcoming cycle and already have asked for 3 letters and should have them uploaded to interfolio by the end of March. That way I don't have to worry about them later on and if I need them to reapply they're right there and won't have to go through the headache you are experiencing now.

Interfolio is/will be very worth it.

I used it using the same logic but after using it thought it wasn't worth it. Bc if you need to reuse those letters you r going to have to ask your teachers to change the date of those letters because they would already be a year old, obviously having up to date letters is better.

And don't worry about "risking" to be 2nd or Third batch just have you app in by July

Your application will be mailed regardless of the status of your letters so you can be in the first batch as long as you submit the application early enough.

That being said, I think Interfolio is worth it in some cases such as yours but by no means necessary.

@Dentsss so you think having a letter with a year or two year old date on it would be frowned upon by the admission committee? I never even thought about that I just figured they would care more about the content of the letter than the date of it? but I could be wrong.

To be honest you should call a couple schools and just ask them what the requirements for the letter are. Maybe it would matter but maybe it wouldn't. But I just think an up to date letter is obviously better then a year or two old letter. If I didn't get accepted this cycle I don't know if I would have asked them again or just submit it.

I'd just do interfolio and then if you have to reapply then you can worry about that later. It's good to have your letters in "your possession" so you can have them and submit them early and if you need them to send them to someone for some reason. It's pretty cheap to
