I have gchem/orgo done already. There is a upper division biochemistry offered by the chem department, but that would require another year of course work (Physical chemistry 1,2 and a math course). There is a upper biochemistry for the biology division but theres only one course and it has 8 seats. If I can't get into it, is "Introduction to Biochemistry" sufficient? Its the next class after organic and has this description

"Introductory course emphasizing the study of the structure, reactions, and syntheses of biological compounds; mechanism of enzyme-catalyzed reactions and biochemical genetics."

Or is this something I should talk to each individual school for?

It should be fine, but i would call the school to check.

P Chem is rather difficult. Trust me. It made orgo look easy...

I highly doubt any school would ask for more than intro to biochem, but feel free to call and verify.

These are just some examples from the book, ADEA Official Guide to Dental Schools 2012, regarding your question:

UCLA/UCSF requires 3/4 units (semester/quarter)
LECOM requires 3/4.5 units
UPenn requires 4/6 units
Howard requires 6/8 units

As you can see it varies from school to school.

p.s. I had a similar dilemma last year, where I had choice between "survey of biochem" and "principles of biochem". I ended up taking the latter.
