is it common to score above 35 on mcat?

I see a lot who score very well on mcat on SDN.

I began to wonder if these scores are real.
It's really rare to see someone who score above even 36 in reality.

Reading some threads posted by those who score like 39 or above 40 on MCAT, worrying about their admission to medicals schools, sometimes discourages me.

+1. I don't think it is near as common in real life as it is on SDN

People who do well have a higher tendency to revel in their performance versus people who don't do well.

You wouldn't come onto a forum full of strangers just to let them know you made a 25, would you?

I only registered on SDN after finding out my score

You don't see a lot of people with 35+ worrying about entrance unless they're aiming at top schools, they have bad grades, or they're going for MD-PhD.

Then why is the national mean or median is listed at 32 in MSAR?

The mean in the link posted above is 25. If the median is 32 it means half the people score below and half score above right?

The mean for all who take the test is 25. The mean for acceptees is 31.1 (the median quoted is for acceptees, too).

Median is the middle value in a string of numbers.
