Is it likely that I have a red flag in my application I've been put on interview waitlist/holds?

Most applicants get rejected.
Some SDNers are reporting that due tot he lack of the national acceptance report this year, that more schools are waitlisting people.
In you case, the other applicants might simply have been better. This is an Olympic event, after all.

Having a LizzyM in the ballpark of the school is not a guarantee of an interview, it is a prerequisite. After more indepth review of your application they will either extend the interview or reject or put you in a maybe pile.
There are many possibilities of why you wouldnt get an interview extended to you.
1. Low yield schools. there are thousands of other applicants with similar stats.
2. Late application
3. Wrong schools. Applying to an OOS school that takes 95% IS people.
4. mission mismatch.
5. Red flags
I like to think of II offers as being random. So if you apply to a large enough number of schools where you are competitive you will get interviews. not to all of them, but atleast some of them.

I have a LizzyM of 71 (not including the boost for military service, which puts it up to more like a 73-74). I got WLed by a school with a LizzyM of 67, accepted at a school with a LizzyM of 68, and completely ghosted by a school with a LizzyM of 69. It's not all about numbers.
Edit: for clarity, what I'm trying to say is just because you're getting put on holds doesn't mean you have a red flag. It could, but it could also be your PS or ECs.

3 of my pre-II rejects had LizzyMs between 71 and 74, and mine's a 73.6. A couple more in that range are essentially finished interviewing.
I don't think there's some sort of red flag in your app. I learned that aren't entitled to an interview, even you think or even are qualified for it. Let's grant that 40 percent of applicants to a particular school are qualified. The school can still only afford to invite 5 to 20 percent. So the holds or rejects aren't entirely unexpected.
Med school admissions are tough. Doesn't mean your app was necessarily bad.

If you had nothing but Rs with a solid school list, I would be concerned about a red flag.
A WL however is not a sign of a red flag. Schools wouldnt waste an interview slot on someone they considered a potential liability. As others have said, it's very hard to bat 1.000 in this game.
