HEY,
I came into college with 9 english credits, fulfilling my degree requirements. However, I know many medical schools look for english. Would it be ok for me to take the pre-reqs in my last semester senior year? This way, I would have both AP credit and real classes.

Thoughts?

As long as the prerequisites are on your final transcript, proving you took them and that you got your degree, you're fine. Many will put future classes on their AMCAS transcript so schools know they are planned. You definitely do not need to complete all the prerequisites before you apply.

For English, yes, you will be OK.

This is what will happen: During your initial AAMC application, you will fill out your current transcript along with all your current grades. As you'll be taking english either in the future or at that time, you'll note on the transcript that it is a pending grade. After you send in your initial AAMC application to your particular list of schools, AAMC is done dealing with you for the most part.

From there on out, schools will be aware you have the grade pending. You will have to forward your transcript containing your final grades to your entire list of applied schools.

This wouldn't work for a class such as Ochem which some adcoms can base an entire decision on, however, for english, which is mainly just a check-in-the-box pre-req, you'll get by for the most part.

Cool, i just wanted to make sure. Since I already would have AP credit, they know that I can handle college level English, im not just waiting it out. This just gives me scheduling flexibility

😕 Admission decisions are never based solely on one aspect of an application. DEFINITELY not based on one 4 unit course. I took two pre reqs after applying (first and second semester of senior year): zoology and biochemistry. Didn't make a difference.

But taking them last year isn't recommended right?
