Is it possible for a podiatrist to make 300k a year??? Would they have to have their own practice or as an employee in a practice or hospital setting?? (In the north east region of the country, specifically, southern new york)

300K gross is possible. However, 300K net is highly doubtful regradless of the location and style of practice.

Im not saying its the norm. But its definately possible. In the APMA magazine they have many ads from various groups offering positions for podiatrists. In the latest issue I noticed one that offered a pod 400K salary to start. It specified a pod with a few years experience so I dont think it was for someone right out of residency. My friend graduated from a residency in Michigan last year. He got a job with an established podiatrist making 6 figures starting plus benefits and incentives. He told me that the Pod he works for nets over half million a year. Dont be so quick to put a cap on your future income.

Is it possible? Yes. Is it probable? No.

We've got pods working as the foot and ankle specialists for ortho groups here in Des Moines clearing 300k. They work like dogs though. Your pay as a pod depends on where you end up (private practice, multispecialty, ortho, etc).
