I think so!! I submitted my AADSAS on 8/21, and after long waits with their customer service representatives, I finnally spoke to the cust. serv. manager, and she told me the applicant pool is huge this year. She said each mailing week was about 150-200 ppl last year. This year she said each mailing week is 250-300 ppl!!! So my application isnt being mailed until 10/8!! I am a freaking nervous wreck!! I got a 3.2, awesome letters, lot of shadowing, research, and involvments, and a 17/17!! Ive been studying 10 hours a day since 9/1 and am taking the DAT 10/22! I think I need 19/19 to get in at MUSC! what do u guys think?!?!!?!?!?! 😱 😕

MUSC Huh? I just interviewed there the other week. I think an 18/17 is fine , maybe around a 3.3 GPA, that is assuming you are a SC resident. If not, thats another story.

OH, and I forgot to add, I applied as a junior there last year in November, and interviewed in January. Your chances are actually about the same after December 1(first acceptances given) as after. After Decemeber, they typically interview 36 people for about 17 spots, so it a late application really is ok. Hope this helps..

just checked this morning and i am around number 4700 and going out in two weeks.... it is very nerve racking, I won't rest until i have been accepted somewhere.... and i dont believe i will find that out until december january at the earliest..... also i took dat and applied end of august to give you guys an idea of where the numbers are.... i dont think that is to bad if avg 8000 apply every year and you should apply before december then we are on schedule for around 8k

dagnabit; i hope those extra 2000kids are applying because they actually like teeth and dentistry and want to do it, not because of the money or the fact that medicine is going down the toilet.

i know what u mean...well i s'pose i'm 1 of the xtra 2000 "kids"...since i didn't apply last yr.
but i DO like dentistry, i have a crazy passion for it that none of my friends understand.

i know a lot of ppl goin for med but say "i think i'm gonna take the DAT and apply to dent anyways, JUST IN CASE".
and i'm thinkin, just incase of WHAT? u don't even LIKE dentistry, stop taking up someone else's spot if u don't even want to be a dentist!
grrr that makes me so mad sometimes! 😡

...seriously, people, anyone who wants to apply to dental school should be more than welcome. For those who've forgotten, the goal here is to educate & train the best doctors possible, not to pat ourselves on the back because we're more selfless than any other profession.

Jeez...sounds like somebody need to take a chill pill. How are u gonna handle the stress of dental school if u get stressed out so easily on things u have no control over.
