I am planning to submit my application tomorrow and am taking the DAT on Aug 31st. After reading some of your postings, I am having second thoughts applying this year. feels like it is too late and I shouldn't bother spending the money????????

People have applied later than this and still gotten in. However, you are late, you may be wasting money, you may need to reapply next year. AADSAS messes with everyone's app but at worst you'll get a late look from the schools. A late look is better than no look.

Submitted my application August 29th, took my DAT 2 weeks prior on August 15th. Turned out just fine for me! 🙂 👍

Just do well on the DAT, and you'll be fine. Just cause you aren't in the first load of apps at the schools doesn't mean you aren't going to get looked at if you do well and get a chance.

Don't let these overzealous kids on SDN fool you into thinking everyone is this way.

By the way, my friend applied in October, took his DAT in January, and still got in a NOVA for the class of 2006.

I don't think it's too late.... especially if you have a good GPA or DAT score.

Don't let the overachievers on this forum pull you down. It is NOT too late to apply. They make up only a small percentage of the applicant pool. I take my DAT the 18th of August, and I have full confidence that I'll be super competitive this cycle!! Study hard for the DAT, and you'll be fine!! 🙂

Thanks everyone. I did submit my application and I really don't want to go through this process again if I don't have to. I have 3.4 science gpa and 3.0 overall... I know I have to ace the DAT's...

it is not late...do not worry
if your file goes to the school before late september it is not considered late

What matters now is your dat and gpa.... 🙂
Oh my god this is what I do not like....
What matters is your ability not who applies first....if submitted before september...

What is the matter with the people....
what is the point of working hard then?

getting 3.0 gpa and 18 on dat and applying early will get admission
and 3.8 gpa and 23 on dat will not if submitted 1.5 month late????...
hmmm.... I don't get it...
I hope admission r not that dumb....
u should not worry if your gpa and dat is high enough....
but it should get there within september..... it will get tough later on...
good luck...... only who works hard gets paid...

Definitely not too late in the cycle. I didn't submit my AADSAS until late Sept. and took my DAT in early Nov. (after submitting application). I'll be attending UCLA this fall.

Don't stress!!! you are still in good shape.

i did not submit my application till September 10th, and I did not take the DAT still Sept. 9th.

This is one of the reasons that I frequented SDN religiously last fall and spring, but as soon as ADDSAS opened I have come peeking around maybe once or twice. The forums were the same when I was applying to undergrad schools (on review.com). There are people on these boards who must try to stress everyone else out with their, "I have a 25 AA and a 3.95 but got a B+ on Orgo 1... do I even have a chance anymore???" I hate it.

people are playing mind games...i heard it only gets worst in dental school and beyond.
