The other thread about how slow AMCAS verify applications is totally freaking me out!
I know I've been procrastinating...and there's only me to blame.
But is it really too late to submit primary right now?

Don't freak out. It's not too late, but the longer you wait the more of a disadvantage you give yourself.

No absolutely not. Shrug off all the stress and just finish up and submit, then start pre writing secondaries. You will be find. If the calculations ppl are making with the amcas data are true, then everyone will be verified in march...do u think med schools are just gonna sit back and let this happen. They're probably already pissed as they had already planned interviews and will have to move those back.

With that being said, this is just an opinion and I'm just a premed

Amcas only received 15k apps right now, and we're expecting 45k. Submit now and you're still in the top third of the applicants.

Nope but submitt ASAP! I submitted in mid-July and I felt I was only slightly late. I had the majority of my interviews in the fall. If you submitt now, you will be fine.

The application opened for submission on the 10th, 18 days ago.

It is still June. There is no possible way it is too late.

I could understand if you were asking this in August, but it's literally still the same month as when applications opened.

The saying at my school is "Apps fly by the fourth of july", so no, you aren't late. Also remember that AMCAS has postponed when it will first submit info to medical schools.
Get it done this weekend. Unless your stats are so meh that you needed to be the first they see, I'd go for it.

I'd say like 3.5/29, ok ECs but nothing great.
You know, something that puts you on the high end of DO acceptance and low end of MD acceptance.

Maybe calculate your LizzyM score if you aren't sure.

sorry, not familiar with LizzyM. could you please explain ?
LizzyM is a score that combines your GPA and MCAT... it's usually (GPA*10) + MCAT. Search SDN to see some previous threads about what average LizzyM scores are.

Thanks for every one up there.

Is it a good strategy to just pick a few schools, get the primary done, and while waiting to be verified, add more shcools to the list? Any downsides for doing that? Thanks!

Yes, I think that would be the best way to go. Are you delaying cause you haven''t decided on schools yet? Just wondering why you wouldn't submit to all now

It's not later than if you submitted tomorrow.

I don't see any reason to only add a few schools rather than all of them that you were thinking about. It isn't like the AACOMAS application where you are able to edit after you submit. The only situation I see where this would be a good idea is if you're waiting on an mcat score and don't know how you did.

Yes, I plan to apply to quite a few schools, and doing research on each one of them is taking much longer than I've expected. I've already had my MCAT score , and everything else ready.

You should submit now, to just one school that you are sure you want to apply to. Then add the rest of the schools later. That is what I am doing. You can edit schools whenever you want and it doesn't delay your app. If picking schools is all you are waiting on then definitely submit right now to get yourself in line for verification.
