explaining yourself in a thank you note if you muddled up an interview? Details: I was somehow drawn into a conversation about a group research project I did in my final year of med school. I mean this stuff is not even in my CV cos it's nothing major really and I all but forgot about it. Anyway she was really grilling me about it and I totally muddled it all up. I m certain she was convinced I had no clue what I was talking about. Now the question is I went back n looked it up, do I need to write her and clarify what I actually did? What do you guys think?

I think you should drop the subject for a few reasons. One: a lot of times, interviewers will meet and talk by the end of the interview day. Second: the interviewer might have forgotten about the topic and your email will only bring it up in his/her mind. Just write a thank you note emphasizing the positive.

Thanks, that makes a lot of sense!

And make sure to brush up on ALL research projects you've done in the past, so you can talk about them during the interview. If you can't articulate what you did, they're going to assume you didn't play a big role in the project.
