Hi all,

I am currently majoring in neuroscience and just finished my second year. I have a 3.0 GPA and realistically think I will raise it to a 3.4 by graduation (anticipating high upward trends).

With that, and assuming my MCAT score is "good" (slightly above average?), should hope be lost?

If it matters, I am also an URM (East African-American) and would be a "young" applicant (I will graduate at 20, but I heard applying too early isn't a good idea...?)

ECs
A year completed as a leader for a disabled student group
PR for a mental health group for minorities on campus (1 year starting next semester)
Secretary for a cultural group on campus (1 year starting next semester)
Community tutor for elementary/middle schoolers (2 years)
Children's Hospital Volunteer (2 years)
Medical Scribe (starting soon, 1-2 year commitment)

I also hope to find research opportunities soon

Thank you in advance for your input

Hope is not lost. Just make sure you do well in your last 60 hours, since an upward trend, especially in that time is crucial. Aim for an MCAT score of 510+. Taking into consideration that you're a URM, your stats are pretty good, just do what I suggested above and you have a shot at MD and definitely DO. Make sure you get some more clinical experience to, i.e. shadowing.
