Is there anywhere in this country where a run of the mill licensed pharmacist with no connections can just email someone a resume, get a call in a reasonable amount of time, and get started ASAP?

Anywhere? Literally anywhere? Like BFE Montana? South Texas?

I'm honestly just curious if such a place still exists.

Were BFE rural areas ever that way? The ones I know always wanted to know who you are and where you come from and if you are coming there for the long haul and if you would fit in with the locals.

Didn't some guy here say Puerto Rico had 7,000 pharmacist positions?

Yeah it's a trap. All the people who say "you can find a job so long as you are willing to move [to BFE]" have no idea what they're talking about.

Yeah even the places in WV where the locals are all methheads/ inbred/ creepy/ barely human are saturated. That WAS BFE in a nutshell. And it no longer exists.

Now that I think of it more, it's probably pretty easy to get a job at a diploma mill. I know plenty of people who take jobs at these schools, only to bounce within 1-3 months for faculty positions at more reputable/established schools, so there must be a lot of turn and churn at these schools.

Back in the 00s, absolutely!
I went to school in a rural state, with over 60% of my classmates coming from BFE towns so they generally went back to their towns... I don't know if there were many 'outsiders' who even tried going there... and pretty much everyone went to the town where they were from or the closest to it (some were from towns with population of under 200 people, obviously no pharmacy jobs there), don't know of anyone who went to a different part of the state unless they stayed more urban/suburban.

AFAIK that Red Bluff one still doesn't have a permanent PIC.

I don''t speak Spanish so prob wouldn't be considered for the Nogales, AZ one.

Thief River Falls, MN so you can illegally cross the Canadian border if necessary

Those are literally all the PIC jobs posted by Walmart for the entire country? I haven't heard of a single one of those towns except for Ocala, FL, which is a BFE-ish small town 1-2 hrs north of Orlando.

Where’s the one PIC from Walmart that used to be on here? I would have love to see his/her response lol

Ew, Thief River Falls is awful. Imagine having Grand Forks, ND as the closest "big city", which is still an hour away. It's bad even for small rural MN city standards.

The next question is, are these real jobs? CVS posts jobs that don't actually exist all the time and I know this for a fact.

I wouldn't be surprised if they posted fake jobs just to do market research on saturation trends... similar to how there are bonus questions on the NAPLEX/MPJE that count for nothing except internal research purposes...

Walmart can slap a title "assistant pharmacist" or "assistant pharmacy manager" on a hapless pharmacist and make them temporary PIC until they find a lolmanager.

Example: that Red Bluff store hasn't had a official manager for almost a year now (?)

Those Texas ones (by the LA border) have "assistant pharmacists" as PIC (can look up PIC name and validate job title internally)

Is the one in Temple, PA real? Hell, I might be interested in that one if CVS ever lays me off of my night shift job like they have in the past. Assuming it's real. It's basically Reading, PA. Which is a fairly large town/small city. And houses are very, very cheap there. I could buy a house for the equity I have in my current home. I'd be set. I'm actually considering taking a manager job at some point. I have a feeling night shift isn't going to be a thing forever. And because I know eventually those will be the only high paying jobs left and also the only pharmacist that legally HAS TO be there full time.

Temple, PA prob got filled by now since it's actually civilization

I was actually looking for any positions in western WA but there aren't any in eastern OR (only 3 locations though), 1 southern OR (Eagle Pt outside of Medford), zero eastern WA either lmao (not talking about those temp positions)

You're telling me they couldn't find anyone to fill a position posted since January? These must be fake.

PIC is a BOP requirement.

Pharmacy manager is not.

In PA, PIC isn't a designation, pharmacy manager is a board requirement, and a pharmacist can only be the pharmacy manager of one pharmacy at a time. Keep in mind that each state is its own weirdness.

Or you can just be a straight-up unethical DM and keep the old manager's name attached to the pharmacy permit/license (up to you to report change of PIC/manager yourself)

I'm still getting lots of hours here in the Midwest. I'm fairly well known in my company within the area that I work in, though.
