I'm just curious about VCOM and its affiliation with any particular religion. It doesn't really matter, but I was just curious, because the location and atmosphere of the school give the impression that it is somewhat Christian. Not to mention that little eatery is called, "Our Daily Bread".

Just some useless information I was wondering about. For those of you attending, does it seem to have a "Christian" atmosphere?

Sorry I had to laugh at the title of this thread.

Ok, first off as to Our daily Bread, which incidently just pulled their contract out and left. They are actually a bakery here in town. So no, that is not a religious lunch place 🙂

As to the atmosphere here. We have a number of religous things that go on at campus, such as Bible groups meeting at various times and a prayer circle that met at the flagpole, and a Christian club, but that is the extent of it thus far.

It is nice that alot of us are religous , personally I feel that makes for a better doctor, but we have a variety of cultures represtented in our classmates and not all are of the Christian faith.

Don't know if that answered your question or not.

Oh and VCOM is located in the Bible belt of the USA.

😀

I figured the sense of it may just be due to its location. I'm quite familiar with the bible belt 😀

at least you're not in the buckle of the bible belt.

I was born and raised in Blacksburg, 1973-1991, and Our Daily Bread is one of the two hippie-era businesses in town that has survived long-term. It used to be downtown, behind The Cellar. My mom would take me there to buy bread when I was a kid. It was (is) anything but religious, tending more towards the pot-smoking nature types.

The other business is Eats, the natural food store that is (was) near Maxwell's on North Main. I used to get hauled there on a regular basis, as well. Ah, the memories...

VCOM is a college of Virginia Tech--a public institution. It does not have any ties with any religion. However, it is in the Bible Belt.
