in an interview this up coming Tuesday (10/3) and I am nervous as all can be. I am so scared that I am going to screw up or not be able to answer a question or two that the interviewers may ask. I also tend to get really nervous (as you can tell its starting already :scared: ) My interview is at LECOM-Bradenton and I haven't heard about anyone else interviewing there yet which leads me to believe I might be in the first group, which makes me more scared!

So for all of the people that already interviewed...
Do you have any advice? And I would also like to know how you got over your pre-interview nervousness? Thanks a bunch! 🙂

I was nervous during my first interview, but when I talked to other applicants, I learned that everyone else was in the same boat. Also, by talking, you'll warm up your "interview" voice. You should keep your conversation light. I would not compare GPA or MCAT scores, since that may lead to further anxiety. You'll find that most applicants are friendly and approachable.

A word of advice, if you're going to Bradenton, research PBL. Most importantly, be yourself! Best of luck.

I have never had a medical school interview, but I have had plenty of pre med committee interviews and job interviews. Just relax, maybe do a general thinking session before you go. I alway ask myself random questions in the car on the way to my interviews, like what are your weaknesses, strengths, why do you want to be a doctor, why osteopathic, what was your greatest experience, etc. It really keeps you on your toes and then when someone asks you, you are able to quickly and eloquently answer with confindence. Good Luck!

There is no need to be nervous! I had two interviews last week, and I was also extremely nervous, but soon realized that the interview was merely a formal get to know you session. I prepared by getting a sheet with possible interview questions, cutting out each answer, and putting them in a bowl. I would then pick out a question and answer it out loud. I felt that it was beneficial to verbalize my answers. You can think about your responses all you want, but I promise the first time you answer them out load you will stumble over your words a bit. With that said don't rehearse them to point that it sounds like you are just regurgitating answers to the interviewers. BE HONEST AND BE YOURSELF!!!!!!!!!!!!! You will do fine, and at the end you will wonder why you stressed so much.

Good Luck!

read over your aacomas application and your secondary application...just so if they ask you any questions regarding them, you wont be totally clueless...cuz im sure you filled them out a loooooong time ago.

And yeh, no matter how much you "plan" for the various questions, you'll prolly draw a blank at one point or the other and answer the question off top of your head instead of what you "planned" to say..... dont get worried about that..happens to all of us.... just be calm and relaxed....cuz mainly they want to see what kind of personality do you have and if you are able to speak inteligently...

Unless you are that guy/gal with a 3.95 GPA and 34 MCAT, then you might want to intimidate your competition :meanie: ! J/K:laugh:

All the questions that they'll ask (except for the article) are already on SDN in the interview feedback section, so you can prepare answers in advance. Some of the interviewers will change the question just a little, but not much. They'll give you a short article at the beginning of the day to read. Take notes on it and memorize a few facts. They'll ask you to summarize it later. It's really pretty simple.

You'll get some time to talk to some students over lunch, without the faculty or staff around. Make use of that time. I'd also recommend that you hang around afterwards and talk to some students in the lounge. They'll be glad to talk to you. First years have a Clinical Examination test at 1PM, though, so they probably won't be finished until around 2:30 or so, but some second years should be around.

I think you are in the first group, but don't worry. Everyone is pretty laid back here. If you get Dr. Huu, don't forget to ask about his famous "knock-knock" joke 🙂

:luck: :luck: :luck:
