I thought it would be fun to try and estimate what we got and then see what we really get. I'm going to be optimistic and start with a 30 even though that test was hard as hell.

I think we should also post our AAMC score range/practice

Practice AAMC (3-10): 29-35. Avg: 31

Prediction: 27. PS 7 VR 9 BS 11. The PS will hurt the most considering my lowest practice was a 10 and my highest was a 14.

Practice AAMC (3-10): 31-38. Avg: ~34

Prediction: No idea what the breakdown will be but PS was horrible - i hope i'm a good guesser. VR the curve will be harsh. BS was ok but maybe thats just because i knew the test was almost over and was "relieved"

Estimate: 29P

AAMC range: 26-33 with some 10pm sleepiness flukes

Practice (33-37), but I gave myself a J on all my practice essays.

Predicted (8-13-9 = 30P) I think I did better on the essays than practice.

ohh by the way, before the 24th I use to think it was impossible to score below a 10 on any section.... I no longer believe that.

I'm usually a lurker, but I am getting nervous as hell about getting my score back, so I am contributing for a change.

AAMC Practice Range: PS 9-11 (9 only once), BS always 11, VR 12-13, Total 32-35.

Predicted July 24th Score: PS 7, BS 11, VR 12, Total 30.

I got slaughtered on the PS, ran out of time, didn't answer 3 questions and guessed randomly on at least 7 others. Slaughtered. :scared:

I never did a practice essay (yeah, I know) but I am a good writer so we shall see....

Luckily, I am getting my wisdom teeth taken out on Thursday, so I plan on drowning my sorrows by taking several percocets, or, if by some miracle I got better than a 7 on PS, celebrating by taking several percocets.

Bad PS 7 VR 10 BS 10... 27.... Retake in April
Good PS 10 VR 11 BS 11... 32.... Surprising myself.

Really, I have no clue. But I'm guessing on the downward side to save myself disappointment or to create even more joy.

Is anyone else kinda hoping they got less or the same as their diagnostic?
I got a 25 on mine, and I figure if I didn't break a 30, I would rather just get a 25 so I could ask Kaplan for my money back.
I'm not going to apply with less than a 30 anyway, so I figure why not?

yeah, i want >30 or <22

:D :D

Practice range 25-31.

Predicted score: 43.

Why??? Cuz those who trust in God will NOT be put to shame.

i was averaging around a 33 on practice tests, with 8 on almost every verbal, and 12-14 on biological and physical sciences

Here's what I think I got based on that

Physical: 11

Verbal: 7

Biological: 13

for a grand grand total---->31

My AAMC test average was 34, but I am not holding out hope for such a score after I was destroyed on July 24th.

My guess....

PS: 8-10
VR: 11-13
BS: 8-10

Hoping for a 30 out of all of this

Best of luck to everyone waiting for their scores and try to keep the anxiety to a minimum (yeah right!!!).
Test scores are around the corner.

I got a 28 on my diagnostic, and my best practice score was a 31... for months I kept getting 30s, so I'm gonna hope and pray for a 30.

If I get less than a 28, I will be severely ticked off, because that would mean I did like, negative studying, which is far from the truth (did quite a bit of studying).

We'll see.

It is not. You'll see when the results come out tomorrow.

If God existed don't you think he would have better things to do than to adjust your MCAT score? Like help feed the starving children of the world? Egomaniacs like you given religion a bad name. You use it as a crutch because you can't handle things yourself and to absolve yourself of any personal responsibility for your actions. Let me guess- when you get a 25 you will say God is testing your will by giving you a low score.

I always laugh when people say that. Every time I say I trust in God, someone always say that it's because I can't handle things myself. That is BS. I can as well handle things myself, and I'm not running to God cuz I'm scared of the world or whatever. I was just brought up as a Christian and I believe in trusting God in everything. Horses are prepared for the day of battle but victory comes from God.

From you response, I take it that you don't trust in God, but you don't see me attacking you for that cuz every one is free to believe what they believe.

I will score that 43, and you'll hear of it tomorrow, but if I don't, that doesn't make God anything less that He is.

What do you know about religion? You talk about me giving it a bad name, where as in my religion, the bible says in Proverbs 3:5 that "trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding." I'm doing what the bible says, so tell how I'm giving my religion a bad name?

Sorry to highjack the thread, but since the God thing is being beaten to death, I think you should all read this article:

http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=9109844

It's titled "my personal leap of faith," and was written by a fusion plasma physicist from UCLA. It's extremely relevant to every science major whose upbringing conflicts with their education and have struggled with the existance of God (Btw it's only 500 words).

I love it when you people accuse Christians of being weak.

It literally makes me LMAO.

Because...your statement doesn't make any sense. How do you derive such a ridiculous assumption from simply hearing one say that he or she trusts in God?

How does not taking responsibility for one's actions have anything to do with being a Christian and having faith? Where do you get this crap from?

I love how you just called someone an egomaniac for no other reason than to attack someone who did nothing to provoke you...for the simple fact that he or she doesn't believe what you believe.

And you call him the egomaniac...

I would argue that YOU'RE the egomaniac as you obviously think that anyone who doesn't agree with you is somehow less of a human being or...LMAO...weaker.

LOL...

Was it necessary for you to personally attack that guy? I mean, you must have some serious issues if you can't even keep your mouth shut around those that differ from you with regards to beliefs.

And your bedside manner is really going to kick ass!!!!!

Good luck to you...

Edit: Yeah, one last thing:

How many people have you seen die? By die, I mean die...not the viewing at Uncle Walter's funeral...

Interesting article. Not quite sure how I feel about that. Will have to digest a little more. At first glance...well, lets just leave it at I dont know for now. Dont want to make any sudden illogical comments. :)

It is completely unnecessary to knock someone's religious beliefs, no matter what context it's in. I don't like how it's politically incorrect in the eyes of some people to even hint at any of your beliefs in a specific religion. Knock the guy for being unrealistic based on the discrepancy between his practice scores and predicted scores, but don't knock his religious views, no matter how misguided they may seem to you.

I don't understand it. He said he believes that God does not know the future. That means that he believes God exists. If he does that, then he should believe in the bible. And the bible talks a lot about how God tweaks the laws of nature. You can't believe one part and not every thing.

Okay, you have to be a troll. Sorry to the non-trolls who were offended by my previous comment.

Well, If you don’t get that 43 (which you won’t!!!) don’t loose your faith; but learn from your lesson and try not to be so naïve. I don’t see why god wouldn’t be able to bump a score up a point or two (hope so in my case); but in the end hard work is what will actually get you there. Having faith is great, just don’t delude yourself to the point that you start pissing off the people around you. Good luck with your score!!

My comment was only about him not all religious people.

I can't lose faith about that. Remember what Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego said to the King who said their God couldn't deliver them from the burning furnace?

I'm not naive. Before the MCAt I was asking God for something like 30+, but God does not like to share his Glory with any man, and if I get a 30+ it might as well seem like I did it on my own. So, I decided to ask for a score that I couldn't get by myself. I asked God for a score that I can show people and say, "God did this for me!" That was before the exam. Now, the exam was really hard, but then God does not need an easy exam in order to help me. MCAT can't come up with an exam bigger than God.

And I'm not a troll. You're asking people to predict their score. God aside, if I feel I did bad and I predict my score as a 18 composite or if I feel I did great and I predict my score as a 45 that does not make me a troll. This is a prediction. It is not by force to predict 25-35.

You're not going to get off that easy with me.

Please explain where you arrived at the conclusion that "he" is weak.

I would also like your answer to the question that I added as an edit.

Finally, please explain how you will react to patients who you consider to be religious "fanatics," when these patients are the ones that are dying on your watch. You gonna run your mouth to them too?

I'm a Christian as well, and I too disagree with much of what Nunan has to say. His view of God makes me more sad than argumentative.

He speaks as if God's only purpose is to give us purpose. If that's true, what makes Him "God"? How is He God if He exhibits no control over what He has created? God does not simply give an explanation for the difference between sex and love. From a Christian perspective, Nunan missed the entire point of God :(

I don't write this to pick a fight with anyone; since someone posted that article, I wanted to provide my $0.02 response.

Btw, quite a stone's throw from scores huh? :D

While I have been tolerant of your views, your post just made me lose all respect for you as an intellectual. Your interpretation and adherence to the bible verbatim is disturbing, to say the least. The fact that you are unable to comprehend how an individual is able to believe in a higher power without believing in the whole package the bible brings with it speaks volumes of your mental capacity.

Without getting into too heated of a debate, I think most of us can agree that in this day in age the bible is, at most, a set of guidelines for a successful life. If you truely believe one cannot "mix and match" what lessons they draw from the bible, I can tell you right now without a shadow of a doubt that you are a hypocrite. Why? well here's a few examples:

-Don't wear clothes made of more than one fabric (Leviticus 19:19)
-Don't cut your hair nor shave. (Leviticus 19:27)
-If a man cheats on his wife, or vise versa, both the man and the woman must die. (Leviticus 20:10).

There are literally dozens of such examples.
I believe the author of the article has reached a sensible conclusion that explains both the existance of God as well as the existance of science. If only you had the ability to step back from religious fanaticism and think for a bit I'm sure you'd understand.

Not that I am condoning making fun of someone else's religion, but you really must be stupid to think that your're better than someone else to have seen death firsthand. I have been present at the deathbead of a close family member, and I am not a better person for it. I just do not see how that is relevant to this topic.

Yeah you have a very good point there. I think I didn't make myself clear. Of course there are a lot of examples that you stated above. That is not what I meant. Don't get me wrong. What you're talking about is the rules and guild lines. The rules change. Moses said an eye for an eye but Jesus said, if anyone slaps you, turn your left cheek. What I meant was his view on God not twisting the laws of nature. Jesus walked on water, and he turned water to wine. Is he saying that is a lie as he said God does not twist the laws of nature.

The rules have changed but the miracles happened. It's so good to see someone else quoting the bible.

I'm not getting off easy with you? Huh? I said nothing to or about you so you have nothing to forgive me for.

The troll fooled me into thinking he was real. I said he was weak because he can't handle the fact that he determines his own MCAT score... he has to rely on "God" to boost his score beyond his demonstrated abilities. And if he fails, then it's not his fault... it's God's will.

I have seen 4 dead people but I have not seen anyone actually expire. I fail to see the relevance of that.

Your last comment is laughable. Obviously I would treat a sick/dying person or a patient in general differently than I treat someone I meet in an internet discussion forum.

I don't want to hijack this thread so let's end the conversation here. Please PM me if you want to discuss this further.

Actually, YOU must be stupid if you think that question was anything other than just a question.

You see, in times of death, some people are seriously, seriously religious. I am just curious as to how many times Jamilla has experienced these circumstances, and how he or she reacted to it.

I am very serious when I ask this, as death is something that physicians have to be able to handle.

So, when Mr. Smith is dying and his entire family is in there praying and singing, what is Jamilla going to do?

Start firing questions at them?

When Mrs. Smith tells Jamilla that "it's in God's hands," what is that intolerant fool going to do?

Tell her she's wrong?

Dude, read with your eyes and not your ass please...

What the hell happened to this thread? People, this is an MCAT thread. Take your religious debates to a different forum. You people are something else.

I think my IQ declined a good 15 points from reading this idiocy.

this is getting out of hand. someone may as well close/delete this thread, as scores will be out tomorrow (hopefully)

:luck: to those involved

Guys, it's all well and good to believe in God, but remember to feel the rain on your skin. No one else can feel it for you. Not even God.

Hey, look! Another Phoenix. *wave* It's nice to see that you're civil and have a balanced disposition too. We've got to protect the "family" name, ya know?
