Ok, I just googled my first and last name on google and **** came up that I dont want people seeing. **** that is serious and if the adcoms see it, im basically screwed. The stuff that shows is from last year and Im a changed person right now but adcoms probably dont care. Tried contacting the webmaster to remove the stuff but still no reply to them, I dont think they even care.

My question is, do you think adcom will google your first and last name and research you a bit on the internet? Because the bad stuff is on the first page of google and I dont want them finding out.

SO, how did you score interviews ANYWAY.
I am sure there was SOMETHING good. hopefully.

Now, about your google debacle - what you did, was it illegal?
And if it was, then did you mention it on your application when they asked for misdemeanors/felony etc.
If you did, then YAY, dont worry about it.
If not, then YES, you are screwed. and it is your own problem to solve.

I don't think the main AADSAS application has any information about criminal history. I have seen secondaries have that kind of question though.

There is on texas i know, and schools do background checks on everyone they decide to accept because you cant get a state license to administer and prescribe narcotics if you have felony convictions.

I know because i did a dumb prank when i was 16 and that would show up on a background check. I called up dean of admissions of my school, talked with her and she said to mention it in the application. They just want to see that it was a 1 time thing and that you don't have repeat offenses. You are given a few lines to explain. She said the worst thing would be if you didn't mention it in the application and they found out.
 
This OP is just playing games. It's hard to believe his stories as he makes more and more of these threads.

Why the **** would I be lying? I seriously mean it. I was told that the adcoms check out your facebook etc and might google your name to check your background on the internet. And I dont want this **** to jeaporodize my future.
 
There are more than one Xbocker on the internet. Unless you clearly identified yourself with a picture on the said website.

However I clearly stated that I googled my "FIRST AND LAST NAME" Fortunately Xbocker isn't my real name.
 
Let me be more clear. I'm sure there are more than one "YOUR FIRST AND LAST NAME" on the internet. Unless you have a very unique name.

You must be new to internet forums. Welcome, and for future references when you refer to someone on the forum use their forum's username.
 
you don't have to tell us your name, but I'm just curious what it was that you did? If it wasn't illegal, I doubt it would be a big deal, but more info would certainly help in giving an idea of how much it may or may not matter to adcoms.

Plagriazed this football article on some noob forum. they caught me and bashed me and never did I return to that forum again.

1.Not a professional forum just some random forum that talks about football not an Official forum of some sort

2. They somehow found who I was dont tell me how but they did, I of course denied it but if you google my name you can see im a great football fan so their accusations makes sense

3. Dude Im referring to them googling my name just like how they look at your facebook etc.

Now imagine if someone on that "NOOB" forum found about this thread at SDN and knew that you are worried about it? They have the incentive to humiliate you even more and try to expose you to the best they can on purpose. You're only making things worse.
 
ADCOMs can figure out your name just from your screen name if they want to. When NOVA came to BYU last week that they read SDN all the time and told us how someone was pretending to be a D3 from NOVA and was saying how horrible it was there. They looked his SDN ID up, found out his name, found that he had been rejected by them a few times.
Today the marquette admissions director said that he checks SDN every week. I'm sure they all do but wisely do not speak up.

I sure hope the don't google MY name! I googled myself after reading this... some guy with my name takes illegal pictures of young girls! RIDICULOUS!

It doesn't really matter since everyone has high security settings.

Oh okay, yeah I was just thinking other than your picture they can't see much, and even that sometimes people have their pictures blocked as well.

Haha. . . anyone can see my pictures. Besides, all my picture are dental related : ) I quit my SOCIAL life 2 years ago when I decided to focus to become a dental student.

I think that is a ridiculous way to pick between two applicants. Not only is it an invasion of privacy, it can also be discriminatory and misleading. What if you are of age and are responsibly enjoying the beer? What if its a red cup with water or soda in it? How can they judge? Yes if you are completely smashed, its one thing, but sometimes pictures don't tell the entire story. I know there are picture on FB where people are taking hits from a bong or puking from a rough night, but those are because of bad judgement, and that speaks for itself.

I mean why not. If you have your settings so that your entire school can see it -- then you are automatically giving them permission (if they have someone from that school on the committee)

There's nothing wrong with them seeing it. However, I think what he is saying is that its wrong for them to judge and discriminate between applicants based on the picture. A picture could mean alot of things.

I understand. But if you look at one drinking vs non-drinking applicant... whether or not you want to, you may still unconsciously judge 🙂
so in my head, seeing-->judging
I mean, when they send you a rejection letter, they are not going to say, we checked out Picture 24 of 315 and we didn't like what we see. 😀 they will come up with a more "official" reason 🙂

I agree that it would be wrong for them to choose based upon this criteria.. however, having your party-pictures available will also allow them to form their own interpretation/impression of you (may be positive or negative). IF all qualifications considered equal between 2 applicants, they'll go with whichever applicant they have a better impression of 👍 Hopefully your personal statement and secondaries gave them a great impression of you.
