Just googled my First and Last name...... Im screwed....

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I understand. But if you look at one drinking vs non-drinking applicant... whether or not you want to, you may still unconsciously judge 🙂
so in my head, seeing-->judging
I mean, when they send you a rejection letter, they are not going to say, we checked out Picture 24 of 315 and we didn't like what we see. 😀 they will come up with a more "official" reason 🙂

Iced... "seeing" should not always be believing.. i.e. Magic Illusions 🙂

Maybe they could think.. "well.. he could party hard and still manage these grades/scores.. he must be a great applicant when he's committed to something" LOL jk.

I think it's perfectly fine to the show the admissions that we can balance between STUDYING and socializing you know? A more "well rounded" person

is it just me or threads are getting increasingly pointless?

xbocker: from what i see in your previous posts, you have problems with your GPA, with your interview skills and now your past.
SO, how did you score interviews ANYWAY.
I am sure there was SOMETHING good. hopefully.

Now, about your google debacle - what you did, was it illegal?
And if it was, then did you mention it on your application when they asked for misdemeanors/felony etc.
If you did, then YAY, dont worry about it.
If not, then YES, you are screwed. and it is your own problem to solve.

Agreed, you should be in the clear if you told them about it... but this isn't really "medical" or "dental" related - this is any job related lol. If you tell them you have a clean record and they find lots of dirt - don't bother expecting anything good to happen 😉

I know what you're saying, and most (including myself) people have changed thier privacy setting to deter unwanted people (employers, stalkers, schools) to see their pictures. The point I'm trying to make is that a picture could be misleading and shouldn't be the make or break criteria between an acceptance or waitlist/rejection (unless it is completely compromising, which is the responsibility of the applicant to remove). In this case, the admissions committee should go back and nit-pick at things in my personal statement/application/interview, which is completely fair game.

I agree with you that a misleading picture shouldn't be used in these types of decisions, but like it or not, these "outside" things influence opinions. I remember my undergrad advisor said to me once that they don't go actively searching for someone's info on facebook, but once they find it, it's hard to ignore.
