Hello everyone, I just recently got accepted to a pharmacy school that I interviewed at last week. I just want some input into my situation. Without going into much detail, I finished my PharmCAS without mentioning a DUI that I received about 3 years ago. For some reason, I thought that it was only required to report felonies. Anyways, I went to my interview and never once mentioned my DUI. Now my concern is that the school is going to do a background check and find out about my DUI and withdraw their offer. I plan on writing them a letter explaining my situation before setting down my deposit. I just want to know everyone's opinion on this matter. I'm so stupid and I'm just beating myself up over this. People are supposed to be happy when they get accepted.. Do you all think they will rescind their offer? Any input is very much appreciated! Thank you so much.

Well your DUI was a misdemeanor correct? How long ago did you get it? PharmCAS only requires you to report felonies, not misdemeanors. However, if your school has a secondary background check after acceptance (one of the schools I applied for does this while the other does not). Then you may likely find that it turns up in the secondary check. If your school does this secondary check I would definitely call and ask who you should talk to about that sort of situation and explain yourself. Then write them an email about it (so you can put it all down in writing). If your school doesn't do a secondary background check I wouldn't necessarily go out of my way to tell the school, but I would contact the state board and ask them about it. I'm not sure how they handle DUI's and licensing and it varies from state to state. One other thing you could inquire about is how your DUI may affect future background checks as you get out into the job market. I would gather as much information as you can and just know that you definitely aren't the first person in this type of situation. We all make mistakes.
