Am I the only one out there that has submitted all of his/her secondaries quite early and have yet to receive and interview invite? I know my stats are low and my chances are quite slim, but can I honestly expect schools to wait a bit before giving me the interview opportunity or should I just expect rejection letters to start coming in? Any thoughts, please? (Especially from past applicants that were in my same boat)

How long have your secondaries been in and where did you apply? This may help you get some advice.

It could also be LORs delaying things... that's what's going on with me. My prehealth committee people have all my LORs and have yet to send them and it's been 2 months!!~

i have only submitted two of my DO apps thus far...i have been working hard on my MD ones...also...i got my DO apps much much later so I guess I will have more time for them later on...is one month two much of a time barrier?

I sent the secondary in last week but my LORs are still sitting at the pre-med committee at my undergrad... 🙄

My initial AACOMAS application was sent to all schools on July 1, 2004. I sent all secondaries in within 48 hrs after I received them. I am finally done with all of my secondaries, but have not received one interview invite yet. I'm not shocked and in fact, I am just now mailing out an application to my local PA school as a possible backup. Knowing my luck, I'll get rejected there too.

PS: My LOR's have been in since early July. I know this for a fact given that I received confirmations from many of the DO schools.

No idea as to how your stats are... but hang in there. I think all pre-meds at some time feel they will not get into medical school. Only you know your stats though...

Wouldn't worry too much, still early. Start getting worried around Jan. or Feb. I know our school takes interviews into late march and early april. Wait for rejection letters around May/June....maybe. I didn't turn in my DO apps until November. Good luck

PJC could you give us some idea as to what your stats are. I'm in a similar boat as you, all secondaries and lor's are already in and I have yet to get an invite for interview. Thanks

😎

My MCAT was a 21 N, GPA of 3.45, Science GPA of 3.22. I have five years of hospital volunteering, a number of interesting EC's, im a meteorology major, and have 5 excellent LOR's that were all combined and sent together by my Penn State Pre Med committee. At this point, I was expecting to have at least one interview.

i think you should try to do something to take up your time... im running the chicago marathon.. or will try to. more walk the chicago marathon.

And keep a positive outlook. I know we all want to have "lowered expectations.." to be pleasantly surprised in the end but just keep the faith.

You might just be surprised. I think it's understandable that they haven't invited just yet, but I am sure they will when they get more applicants. Just be patient and you'll get your invites sooner than later. Good job applying early!

Didn't you take the MCAT just two weeks ago? You usually won't be getting invited until after your scores are in.

No, I took the April 2004 MCAT.

I had "skiiboy's" post in quotes so that was directed to him... anyway, stay positive buddy it's still VERY early.

I got Case Western interview with 21 mcat.

I went to PSU also, was a bio major with a somewhat higher GPA than you, but similar MCAT scores and i'm a third year now. I wouldn't get too worked up over it. The PA schools, at least, don't even start interviewing till October. I didn't even go through the Pre-Med committee when I sent my applications out. The only thing i'd be worried about is your major, you may get accepted to a postbac program your first year to prove your worth.
