The majority I've heard about Kaplan is it a waste of time and too expensive. :inpain:
As an award, Ive received the class for FREE !
Since I'm not paying for it, Im definitely taking the class. I've opted to take the Kaplan ANYTIME course. (Everything is online, from what i understand)

So far Ive been using CHads video's the BARRON's to review Biology. Chads videos are great. I've really liked using that source… I haven't bought anymore though… I'm thinking of using this as a source...

Will Kaplan alone be enough material? Has anyone been successful with this..?

correction: Im planning on taking Kaplan's (Anytime anywhere)

Also.. This is my first post on this site. 😵😉 :nailbiting:

No. Kaplan alone is not enough. Also use Feralis notes, Destroyer and CrackDAT.

No one source is going to be enough. The best way to go about it is to get the info from multiple sources. Like most people, I am studying in 2 phases.

The first phase is content review, this is what the KBB (or in my case, Princeton Review - highly recommend) is for. Other good resources for this phase are Cliff's Notes: AP Bio (highly recommend, but beware: it goes into probably too much detail for the scope of the DAT, but far less than your college textbook) and Chad's videos (which I am purchasing the subscription to tomorrow. Some will recommend Ferali's notes. I, personally, don't see the utility in using someone else's notes, but YMMV. This should be the longer of the two phases, as the next phase is less useful without a solid foundation. In fact, I originally had April 1 as my date to end content review, but I am pushing it back to April 16, which is one month before my DAT.

Phase 2 I call the practice phase. Essentially, you take practice tests, and answer practice problems. Hundreds of problems. Anything you get wrong, check the solution and learn from your mistakes; anything you are unsure of, mark it and understand the logic behind the problem. Good resources for this: DAT Destroyer (expensive, but worth it!), DAT Bootcamp, Top Score, and other practice tests.

There are many threads on how to approach and use these resources efficiently, but no matter what, consistency is the key, and ensure you have given yourself enough time to really review.

Diversify your study resources. Kaplan and chad's videos alone are not enough. Use Cliff Notes (3rd edition is best) AP Biology, OChem as a second language for ochem to supplement Chad's videos. For genchem, it depends on how strong you are already in it. I didn't need much studying for it, so I just used Chad's videos.

Also, take notes. You do not want to be watching Chad's videos more than twice, nor do you want to read Cliffsnotes front to back everytime you need to review it. If you want, you could also use Feralis' bio notes. I haven't used them personally, but I've heard great things about them.

As for practice tests, this is what has worked well for me:
  • DAT Destroyer
  • DAT Bootcamp
  • DAT Achiever
  • DAT Qvault

I think if you have those, you should be golden. If you need more practice on PAT, I suggest Crack DAT PAT. I haven't used it personally, but as before, many people praise it for preparing you really well for the section.
