Im taking the instructor led DAT course for KAPLAN and it blows. The only helpful techniques learned pertain to the PAT, but when it comes to bio/gchem/ochem the review materials barely scratch the surface of what is expected. I've read the forums that the Cliff notes for AP BIO are extremely helpful, but are there any the similar review materials for GCHEM and OCHEM. It sucks because Kaplan stresses that there is no need for a detailed understanding of subjects like bio, but rather for a more general one, but the practice tests that ive taken beg to differ. Please help, i don't want to waste anymore money that i dont have. 🙁

Try to treat the online material as "review material". The point isn't to try and get all of the questions right and just move on. Read all of the explanations. Read why certain answers are right and why others are wrong. I know the 'blue book' may be scanty with details, but believe it or not the scope of knowledge (at least for the chems) is very consistent with the actual DAT. If you need supplementation, you can get Cliffs AP Bio (I didn't). Or you can grab some old textbooks (I didn't). Or you can just do what I did and waste no money at all... use WIKIPEDIA. No brainer; it's free..

Believe it or not, Wikipedia is pretty inconsistent and wrong in a lot of areas. I'm going through Cliff's AP Bio and KBB right now while cross referencing everything with Wikipedia and its not uncommon for that site to be very incorrect on topics.

I would recommend picking up a copy of Cliff's AP Bio. You can get a copy on Amazon for less than $10. Despite that price, it is by far the best biology resource you can have. Know that book front and back and then if you want you can tackle things like destroyer for a fine detail.

I've found that KBB leaves a lot of things out. Almost to the point it isn't worth having (for biology anyways). Cliff's pretty much brings everything up but may skimp out on a detail from time to time or try to dumb it up a bit as this book is geared towards the AP test. Just be on your toes and watch out for this. This is why I cross reference Wikipedia, KBB, and also all my old lecture slides that thankfully I saved.
