Has anyone invested and benefited from Kaplan's Private Tutoring Course? I am considering it though it is pretty expensive! I have been out of school for about three and a half years and really want to do everything possible to get into dental school! Any advice....? 👍 👎

I think the class is all you need. The instructors hold office hours, and their materials are quite comprehensive. I think that you can add tutoring to your package once the class starts. Contact you local Kaplan center to make sure.

Edknarf is right, the class is all your gonna need my friend. Most of the time the tutor of kaplan for dat is usually the instructor of the DAT classes. So your not missing out much when taking the class.
Use the material Kaplan provides, its worth it.

before u go spending money on even taking the class buy the kaplan blue book and go through it and see if any of the material is that foreign to u that u can't learn it on ur own..because honestly i think the class is completely worthless..it is entirely possible to learn it all on ur own and do very well..if u need any study materials i'd be willing to sell everything i have (kaplan blue book, barrons (good for pat section), kaplan mcat books, kaplan mcat flashcards..the mcat stuff is actually very similar to what's in the DAT book and it helped me a lot..anyway just see where u stand before u shell out a grand or more!

I concur as well.

I would take a practice test first. see what you get vs. what you want vs. what you need to get into the school of your choice.

If you are already scoring close to 20, and you have a good GPA, save some money and study on your own.

If you are a one on one person maybe you can find a friend that is willing to study with you. I am a social studier and I studied the science sections with a friend taking the MCAT at the same time and that was actually one of the most effective things i did.

IMO...NO ONE does well on his/her first practice test. No one gets the score he/she wants. This is because on your first test, you aren't prepared to answer the "specific" types of questions that the DAT covers. What it takes is practice and directed study. My point is that the practice test isn't going to tell you whether or not you're prepared for the exam. If it's your first practice test, then I can tell you right now, you're not prepared for the DAT.

Kaplan is expensive, but I think it's worth it for their subject tests (question bank).

I agree that studying with a friend may help...especially if that person can push/challenge you.

I believe Kaplan private tutoring would be useful if you could find a good PAT teacher in your center. That is of course, if you are having problems with the PAT...
