u can say what ever u want, I want to see how much u will get by using only Kaplan. my friend had a science GPA 3.6 and 3.7 overall. What are u going to say if I'll tell u that Kaplan doesn't even change their materials for over 5 years. It's all the same garbage. U can read any book u need if u are not prepared sufficiently enogh u will do bad on the exam, and again I'll say Kaplan sucks!!!
waste of money.
listen u don't call me a baby O.K.. U want to say something P.M me.
their materials are much older than 5 years, i've used the ones from my brother which was more than 8 years ago, it is the same content before and now.
if you want to talk about just their books, u can buy them for
$40 , for that price, it is a good deal.
and no, i didn't do well on the dat the first time and i studied using only kaplan. After the exam I realized the material was insufficient to do well. But I didn't go around and complain "it is unfair", I chose the materials i used, i chose the amount of time i put into studying, what was unfair? Kaplan being unfair? DAT was unfair? ADA unfair by not giving high grades because ur friend spent 7 months studying?
That was 2004.
I took the DAT again this year. I've graduated for two years, haven't touched a textbook since, and have been working full time. My major was NOT life science related, and the last bio/chem course i took was more than 4 years ago.
I made the choice to retake the DAT. I chose to study while working full time. This time, knowing kaplan's book is insufficient, I did my research to see what would help me the most. I bought Shaum's biology book and topscore, I also read thru almost the entire original organic textbook. I still used kaplan. This time i did much better.
The point is, life may be unfair and you are welcome to trash talk about them. But I just don't see what was "unfair" in ur original post. Like almost everyone said above my post, blame urself (or ur friend), and determine what you can do to improve from ur mistake.
-----------
btw, i also took the kaplan course in 2004 (or 03, i forgot)
no it wasn't useful and it was expensive.
But just as a fact, many professional improvement classes outside school will likely to be costing that much (if not more).
For me, the kaplan classes were not useful because when i attended the classes i didn't have a solid foundation in life sciences. They couldn't possibly "teach me" everything in the limited number of classes (i dun even remember how many) that was supposed to be taught in one or two year university time.
