KCU - JOPLIN vs TOURO Nevada

Just curious to hear if people agree/disagree with my pros/cons lists. I am leaning KCU but let me know if there is anything else to consider!

KCU - Joplin
Pros

• Been around since 1916 (Well established)
• Consistently high board scores and match list (97.4%)
• Low Cost of living area
• Low tuition costs
• Better match comparing competitive matches like Derm, Ortho, Urology, Radiology, Otolaryngology etc.
• Wife (who is a nurse) will likely make more.

Cons

• Far from family
• Poor weather
• Lack of leisure activities
• Matches primarily in the midwest
• Rotations sites all over the country

TOURO
Pros

• Close to family
• Nice weather
• Matches primarily in the west
• Most rotation sites are local within 45 minutes of campus
• Great trails for hiking/mountain biking

Cons

• Not as high of board pass rate (95.9%)
• Match list not quite as strong
• More expensive cost of living
• More expensive tuition costs
• Newer school
• Matches less competitive matches like Derm, Ortho, Urology, Radiology, Otolaryngology etc.

What is the cost difference?

If your family is right there in the Vegas area and would be a good support to you two, then that is a big benefit. Both schools are good.

Being close to family and in a city that will help you be successful is worth more than you think IMO.
