Just got a call from the admin counselor....I'M IN!!!!!!!! And I will attend!!! I'm pulling my AZCOM, CCOM, WVSOM, and DMU interviews!

Congrats!!! I'm still playing the waiting game.

congrats! you've decided already??? wvsom was great, you're missing out!

I'm going to wait to accept until I get done with a few other interviews, but good job everyone. What a great school!

I knew you'd do it Braden! That's great!!! Congratulations!

I'm very happy for all who have been invited to be part of the Class of '11 at KCUMB thus far!

Aww, Mitch! You're so nice!! I really hope you come to school with us! 😛

Me too...I just want an interview! I've gotta get a secondary first though! Then wait for the MCAT scores, etc...

I know what a great school it is and how great the people are...I just want my shot!

It's got to be a great feeling to be done already!

Did I meet you on Monday?

Yup, I was the shy dude in the black suit with the silver and red striped tie. You might not remember me. I am from washington like pappy and was talking about SDN towards the end of the day in the rec. room. peace

Congrats guys!!! It sure feels good to get the early acceptance doesn't it? I'm in @ COMP but I will be interviewing at a few other places before I make my decision. I'm @ AZCOM on 9/22, DMUCOM on 9/29, and I declined an interview at KCUMB. Not that I didn't want to be classmates with you guys. I am sure it would have been great, but It was a decision between California and Kansas City. To say the least CA won. But, I'm still interested in AZCOM, because my parentes live in Scottdale AZ, and I am intersted in DMUCOM, because they offer some scholarships to people with good stats. I also hope to interview and get accepted to KCOM, OSUCOM, PCOM and a variety of different MD schools. Then I will make a decision. DO - MD makes no difference to me. Its all about how hard you work! Congrats guys!!!!

Hey, I just wanted to say congrats to everyone who got in to KCUMB! I'll be seeing you in the fall! I interviewed on 9/11. My name is Jamie Thomas and my e-mail is [email protected] . E-mail me, facebook me, or whatever, I'd love to get to know you guys!

Congrats again,
jamie

KCUMB '11

Congrats guys!!!!!

Having an acceptance already is probably freakin awsome!!!!!

I'll be interviewing at KCUMB on 9/28, but I a little worried cause I didn't get a pre-secondary invite.

So since Im extremly neurotic at the moment and also nosey do ya'll mind posting your stats so lose of us less fortunate can see how we compare?

Thanks guys I really apperciate it.

PS 5 = ouch. Just explain it if they ask, if they don't ask, don't bring it up.

Other than that you are fine. To be honest, at KCUMB getting an interview is the harder part. If you have an interview you have a very decent chance of being accepted. KCUMB is one of those schools that doesn't interview too many more than they are planning on accepting, because they don't really do a waitlist.

If I were you, I'd work the rural medicine angle. Most DO schools love it.

At the KCUMB interview you actually get measured for your white coat (don't know if other schools do this but....). Don't worry to much about your stats. If you got the interview than they've already poured over them. Just go in and be genuine and pay attention. There are things they want to hear in the interview that they mention during the day. Make sure your priorities are clear (family first, medical school second, all else third). There are those who place med. school above all else and if asked they don't want to hear that. They will tell you all this throughout the interview day and then bring up some of these issues in your interview to see if you were paying attention. No biggie. Just relax, you're going to stroke this interview. peace

Oh, and in your quote, shouldn't it be Pleas"e"? Just being nitpicky 😛

Yeah my PS definately sux. I hope that if they bring it up they will take my answer of "Well to be honest with you I think I just had an off day because I was scoring 8-9 on my practice tests and I've won awards for excellence in physical science."

Oh and thanks for the heads of on the "e" I just fixed it.😀

Thanks I needed that. Actually I'm really alot more nervous about getting on the plane to fly to KC than about the interview. Im from the boondocks (town of <800) and I've never been on an airplane before!!!!

I don't like planes either but its worth it when they send you an acceptance letter in september!

Good god, those of you who haven't ever flewn are a rare breed. In certain ways I'm jealous... in others, well ... I'd probably be scared out of my mind to fly if I hadn't done it traveling with my dad at young ages...

Congrats on your interview and good luck! Screw physical sciences, btw. They're the reason I'm not retaking the MCAT for a higher BS bc I know my PS would drop at least a point or two... oh well.

Congrats to all of my fellow KCUMB Class of 2011 acceptees! 👍 Are there any other 9/14 interviewees accepted out there?

Upgrading the thread to the class forums.
Congratulations on your acceptances!

Congratulations guys!!! I think you will all be really happy with choosing KCUMB! I am!

lol, that's exactly why i didn't retake the mcat 😉

I just got accepted yesterday and I will more than likely be attending!!!!!!

OH YEAAAA!!!
I got my letter in the mail today! I am thinking of pulling all my apps from the md schools as well and sending all that travel money to kansas city for my seat deposit. I loved the place. I think I'll update my signature now...

See y'all in August, hopefully!

Hey congrats man....I remember you there. I pulled all of my other apps except for OSU (in state tuition🙄 ) and they (OSU) will have to blow me away because I thought that KCUMB was absoutly amazing.

Anyways, Congrats again!!!

Whats so great about KCUMB? its a sincere question

Well I thought that the facilities were amazing, there was a really cool "vibe" around the campus, everything was very high tech (except for the lack of Wi-Fi), and honstly I've dreamed of getting into medical school since I was a little kid and they let me in so that really helps out their "awsomeness" factor.

They are in the process of testing Wi-Fi as well. It's sort of in closed beta right now, as some of us students are helping them test it. I wouldn't be suprised if it was open access by the time your class starts...

Hey all! I was just accepted this week and ran across this thread. KCUMB is certainly one of my top picks. I just have to wait for a couple of my in-states. I loved KCUMB though.😍

Hey guys. My name is Will and I actually deferred my admission to KCUMB to the class of 2011. I'm sure that everyone who visited the school will agree that KCUMB is amazing!

On a side note, I'm planning on living at Century Towers for the convenience. As of now I'm just planning on living in a 1 BR, but that's boring and can get pricey! If anyone's interested in getting a 2 BR with me to save some money, just send me a PM here or e-mail me at [email protected].

Congratulations to those who are chosing KCUMB and good luck to those who are still waiting for acceptance letters! I hope to get to know everyone and see you guys in August!

Will

Just got my acceptance today in the mail...its amazing how "slow" mail seems to take. I interviewed on 10/11... Congrats to everyone else too!

Congrats on ure acceptance guys. You've truly been admitted to a phenomenal school. The education here is top-notch, facilities are very impressive, and the faculty here are amazing. A medical education at KCUMB will get you well on your way to doing whatsoever you wish in your medical careers. Congrats!

If you have any questions, feel free to send me a PM. I'd be more than willing to address any concerns you may have.

docmd2010, do you have your hands on a recent KCUMB matchlist? Thanks.

The only match list we have open access to lists cities people are going to, not hospitals or speciality. I think we can look at it, but we have to request it and even then it's just to look at, not make copies of.

I can say that according to the cities list, people are going all over the nation. I'm not sure if that helps, but maybe another student has better information.

med-i-cal, how do you like the rotations that are set up? I see that they offer rotations in lots of great hospitals. Would you consider the rotation set-up organized? fair? a good education?

Thanks.

Well, I am only a first year, but I'll tell you what I know about it.

During your second year you sign up for the city where you want to do your rotations. The majority stay in KC, but there are many other cities as well (Florida, Philly, NYC and others). I think that within the city you choose you can pick certain rotations at certain hospitals (don't quote me on that). The passed down advice I've heard is to talk to your upper classmen to get a better inside scoop of which rotations are great, and not so great.

Maybe you'll get lucky and a 3rd/4th year will jump on here with more details.

Has everyone sent in their credit report authorization form? I'm sending mine in on Monday morning.

Do we still send this in if we haven't decided to matriculate there, yet?

I am in the process of choosing between KCUMB and KCOM. If anyone has any thoughts to share about what they like and DON'T like about KCUMB, would you please share those things?

Thanks everyone.

i am in the same position just iwth other schools. please share what you don't like ...honestly...
thank you so much.

How is Kansas City as a rotation site as far as a preceptor system, teaching hospitals, etc.? How does it compare to smaller cities in the area such as Joplin, Jefferson City and Evansville?

Congratulations to those who have been accepted. Like p314boy I was to be a first year currently but decided to apply for a one year reprieve from homework and hair pulling (there were a few other more significant reasons, but that’s not important for this note). Looking forward to meeting all of you fellow medical students in August.

Brent
