Just got my letter of acceptance today!!!!
hi everyone-
first of all congrats!!! i have loved my time here (i'm a 2nd year) and i'm sure you will too!!
just wanted to let you know if you are looking into buying a house/ needing a home loan in the KC area...i have a great referral that I used to buy both of my houses here in KC (one where i live, and the other i rent to med students)...he is an awesome realtor plus he does home loans too!! (and can get you 100% financing), so it's like one stop shopping .
if your interested please e-mail me at [email protected] and i can give his info to you...i don't get any kickbacks from this..i just had such a great expierence with him, i can't help but put in a plug...plus why throw your money away renting when you can get a mortgage for as cheap as renting.
if you have any questions about kc or kcumb, i would be glad to help...i'm pretty involved at school so i should be able to answer most of your questions.
Good Luck ...it is all worth it

I have not recieved any calender.
Do you guys have ay information about a roommate list provided by the school?
How many people here are considering living in the CT?
I've been accepted into kcumb but am questioning my readiness, I've never taken any anatomy, micro, or immunology. I graduated from college in 3 yrs. and got into med school...just wondering what you all thought. Nonetheless, I am going to apply to live in Century Towers but will need a random roomie. Someone cool and laid back, ready to have some fun while kicking ars in school. email me at [email protected] if you're looking for a roomie..

Interviewed on 1/25 and found an acceptance letter in the mail on 1/29! Quick turn around! Looks like I'm headed to KC!
I know exactly what you're going through. I felt the force of the "machine" too in my junior year when I was "suppose" to be readying myself for the app process but I just didnt feel ready, life ready. So, I waited. It actually caused me less anxiety to wait (which before that time, I thought waiting to enter med school would surely mean death!) than to proceed with the app process. Im so glad I listened to that little voice that said "not yet."
I know its hard to fight the force that propels pre-meds forward-we all have it by virtue of being a pre-med-but you dont have to follow it mindlessly. If you dont feel ready or just feel like you'd enjoy another year of life DONT MATRICULATE! A year sounds like a long time to wait when you've been planning for this moment you're entire life (supposedly), but just ask the second career folks and the non-trads- a year is NOTHING.
Im not really advocating either way for you. I would just say listen closely to how you feel and go with it. Dont do what you think you're "suppose" to be doing. If you decide to wait and KCUMB doesnt let you defer a year, then you just apply again. Obviously you're a stellar applicant to finish UG in 3 yrs and get accepted. With another year of experience (in whatever it is!) you'll be an even more desirable applicant. Good luck. If you do come to KC, I'll see you in Aug. If not, LIVE IT UP!!
Looks like they'll have 2 AL folks this year. We'll have to show 'em how we do things down here in the South. And most certainly show them what REAL BBQ tasts like
If you guys are looking for good apartments, I would strongly recommend taking a look at housing in Mission, KS. The apartments are cheaper, roomier, and much nicer than CT in my opinion. Mission is about a 15 minute drive for me during rush hour.

How about for someone who wants to ride a bicycle into class? I guess I'm a bit spoiled coming from Eugene and all...
I actually worked in 2 diff BBQ restaurants in high school, so i consider myself an expert( ). I dont know WHAT THE CRAP I ate in KC but I cant for the life of me understand why ppl in the mid-west are so excited about their BBQ. I mean, it was so...weird!! I almost had "issues" for my interview (I ate the mysterious saucy meat stuff the night before).
sorry I dont quite understand your question.
I guess what I'm trying to get at is, where would be the best place to live if you want to commute on a bicycle rather than a car. You know, reduce my carbon footprint, brave the blizzards in January, etc... It's a healthier venture, except when you become a hood ornament, which has happened to be before.
Does anyone know what a normal day/week of classes looks like at KCUMB? Just curious when lectures get done and how much time we have to study on our own. If any MSI/MSII's can post something up that would be great.
I have attached a schedule for the section the MSII's are currently in...Endocrine...lectures are in the AM...with afternoon either being "independent study" i.e on your own or split up in labs a,b,c,d.. i.e I am in lab group B so I only go to classes in the mornings and then lab group B stuff...keep in mind MSII's are done with anatomy lab after neuro....ACCS is a clinical skills pt. interview things, patient conferences are when patients who have a certain disease we are studying come in a give a talk...OCS practicals only occur 3x's a year..it just happen there is one in endocrine
hope this helps

Hello everyone. I got accepted a few weeks back and I'll be attending KCUMB! Now I just have to find 2,000 bucks around here somewhere. Maybe a visit to the casino is in order....
I'm still torn between CT and getting something like this: http://kansascity.craigslist.org/apa/272236258.html
1300 square feet for $650?! In San Diego I pay $1700 for something substantially smaller. But it would be nice to be closer to campus

The rooms at CT are pretty sound proof, and the toilets have the best flushing power I have ever seen in any house or apartment.
I received a letter from KCUMB today, and the tentative dates for orientation are Aug 6 - 10. White coat ceremony is scheduled for Aug. 9th. Classes begin on Aug. 13th.
Enjoy the next few months. Looking forward to meeting all of you!
