Ha! Nothing like paying oos tuition for 4 years to avoid doing some jury duty =o)

Obviously I wouldn't let that happen! 😛 I will register if I have to. I'm going to try and submit other paper work first. I do have a FL license and W-2's for full time work the last two years.

I got my UPenn postcard today.

postcard=interview.

I'm pretty sure that we already covered the fact that this is not true ... unless they drastically changed their admissions process and you know something you're not telling the other applicants.

postcard=interview.

Why do you keep saying that, despite the sworn testimony by several other posters that this is just not true? Que pasa?

Pennvet please enlighten us regarding your logic (or the info you have) regarding the postcard issue. We can't wait to hear the insider info you seem to have.

insider info= (postcard=interview.)

That doesn't really make any sense because the accompanying letter stated they would enclose an additional postcard if your application was incomplete. So by (repeatedly) saying "postcard=interview", this would mean that they were offering interviews to applicants with incomplete applications as well.

I have nothing better to do tonight, so I went back and read the letter that came with the postcard. It does say "those applicants whom we believe are less academically qualified will begin to hear from us as soon as we can determine their comparative ranking with other applicants. In short, we do not interview nor do we accept all at one time. It is a four-month process."

This could be interpreted as saying that everyone will get their shot at an interview when their place in the rank order is better determined.

I am still on the side of the postcard doesn't = interview people but maybe there are other interpretations of the letter Penn sent. 😀

Ugh, Florida, they are giving me a hard time about my residency. I have to send them all kinds of verification. I don't have a voter's registration card!!! I don't want to register, either, that means jury duty!!! :scared:

No it doesn't. In FL, they take their jury duty from DRIVER'S Lic's, NOT voter registration, to get people to register to vote.

Since the Penn postcard supp doesn't have a place for research, have people been putting research under other? This is what I will do even though I guess I could put small animal.

I would put research under other. Penn really likes research from what I've heard and I believe that last year they took those interested in research through some of their research facilities.

I got my Penn post card today. Does anyone know how they consider you based on what you select for field? What if you aren't 100% sure?

thanks

I put other and then wrote in what my interests are.

Postcard definitely does NOT = interview.
I got the postcard last year, and I didn't get an interview (sure, they held onto my application for a very long time and I didn't get my rejection letter until pretty late in the game... but no interview). I know that other people got the postcard did not get an interview. Also, from the letter, it sounds like they haven't really started reading applications yet, so this postcard = interview theory is meaningless.

It seems that they use the interest field to group people for interviews. Especially large animal people who will want to go out and see the New Bolton Campus. I am not sure if they make admissions decisions (i.e. diversity of class regarding small animal, equine, etc..) based on this selection. Hopefully not though 😀. There are probably people that know more than me 😛.

Also, just as a side note - the Penn adcomms don't even start reading applications until December (that's what their letter said last year, and I believe this year also)- which is after they sent the postcards. I highly doubt that they selected the interview candidates before reading that applications.

The dean said that the only real big difference is that if you put large animal you get interviewed on that campus. It has to do with the people that interview you and what their specialty is. Also, I checked other and put down "research/undecided". Hope this helps!

I got my UPenn letter today too.

here is the update on my status:
UPenn: called to confirm everything in and recieved postcard letter (11/26)
Tufts: application submitted and tracking page up, but says missing transcripts and all recs (They were all sent way before the deadline, so i think they just have not updated it it yet. But if it does not change soon, I will be calling)
NC State: confirmed everything in by calling 3 weeks ago (they will let OOS know if accepted or not by early Jan)
VA-MD: confirmed with Mrs. Joyce that everything was recieved. Recieved a phone call mid October from the doctor in charge of the research phd/dvm program asking me to apply for that as well)
UGA: confirmed that all was in by phone call (there was an email at the end of october saying that my transcript for the online class I am taking now was not in and without it they could not consider my application... I immediately confirmed by phone and by email that the transcript could come in when I finished the online class)
MSU: tracking status email confirmed that everything was recieved (if you are from SC you need to verify residency for both UGA and MSU before Jan to be considered in-state)
Texas A&M: online tracking page says everything in, but I have not recieved one of those letters others have mentioned (i have two or three classes I still need to take for them as well)- is it a bad sign that I have heard nada from the folks down in texas?

That's all i got. hope it helps

UPenn: got postcard today (11/26) - from Michigan

So I tried the search function for "last 45 hours," but a whole bunch of other stuff comes up, and a quick scan of this forum didn't help much either.

When they ask for 'last 45 hours,' do they mean the last 3 semesters for which I have grades, or ONLY 45 credits worth of classes? Most of my semesters have been 18 creds, so does this mean I can pick the classes that I got the highest grades in for my third semester back if it happens to be the case that I can't count them all?

Usually they want you to calculate up to and including the semester in which the 45th hour falls - so if you've been taking 18/semester, it would be your GPA from the last 3 semesters

The Penn card says all classes in the semester in which the 45th hour falls.

On the other hand, Wisconsin has you do a weighted average for the semester in which your 45th credit occurs. Different schools I assume do it differently.

Penn postcard received today.

At this point I don't care whether postcard = interview or postcard <> interview ... I'm just glad they didn't toss my application in the trash or fire while laughing evilly like muahahahahaha 😀 Could still happen, I suppose!

They could have also tossed our apps into a tank filled with sharks with laser beams attached.

I received the Penn postcard yesterday too. I think "Bobdog" asked earlier...I am interested in both small animal medicine and research. Should I put both down or are we only allowed to select one?

I got my UPenn letter/card today (OOS, sent to school address in NJ) 😍

I just marked other and wrote research. Research can really encompass any of the categories. I wouldn't want to miss any info that would be research relevant.

This isn't nearly as exciting as I think it is, but my Tufts tracking page has been updated to say everything has been received!!!😀

I think its exciting! This means they're evaluating us! YAY!

Muchas gracias. That's what I thought, but I just wanted to make sure.

Email from Auburn today saying application is complete. 🙂

Ditto! It also states that interview letters will be mailed mid-to-late January and interviews will take place mid-February! They will respond to everyone, interview or no interview.

email from NC State saying all recs were in and met their requirements.

Well, I got an interview request from the Royal Veterinary College (London)!

Hi Catnapper,
you are the first person I've heard mention Royal Veterinary College. Did they contact you by mail regarding interview? And can I ask for what date? I applied there as well, and anxiously waiting...thanks

Does anyone know when Colorado contacts applicants?

In the email I got from them stating my application was complete, they said January!

But not for interviews, unless you're in-state. So the January must be with the admission/rejection decision?

Has anyone else gotten any "application complete" emails from Davis? The unhelpful person in the office had told me to e-mail somebody and that person never got back to me so I was thinking about calling again (I have issues with ETS and my GRE scores) but if I get the same person it will get me nowhere, ugh. 🙁

I have not, but they told me just as recently as a few days ago that they're still working their way through applications and will send out emails if anything is missing. They never indicated to me that they would send out an email stating that everything was received...only an email if things are missing. I was concerned about optional supplemental forms being received, though, and they told me to email Kim O'Bryan and ask about it. She got back to me within an hour saying that my supplemental form had been received.

Well, someone here said that they got an email saying their application was complete.

Also, I think that's the person I was told to e-mail as well and she never got back to me. Was the e-mail address [email protected]?

bunnygirl, i feel your pain! and as for Davis... words cannot explain, only smileys : 😡:wow::d

Yep, that's the one. She was very responsive to me. The other person who was helpful was Donna Smith, I believe. Good luck.
