As for Penn, last year their last interview date was February 23rd (I think they had 6, maybe 7 weeks of interviews total). They were really odd about their rejections, however, as they sent out two batches: one around February 23rd and then a second batch about a month and a half later. They knew they weren't doing any other interviews when they sent out the first batch so I'm really not sure why they didn't send them all at once.

Thanks for helping me out! I think I know where I am going 😀, I just still have so many places to hear from and im just so clueless about what to expect! Plus my rents are giving me a hard time.....so need to move out...now hahaha

Does anyone know the timeline for Iowa State? I interviewed on January 11th, and was just wondering if anybody knew how long it takes to hear back from them, whether it be good or bad. I did notice that it took BobDog about 3 weeks to get the call, but what about rejections? Anyone know?

Last year, Iowa sent out emails to everybody on Feb 15 giving their decision one way or the other but last yr there were no interviews either, so it all may be different this time around.

When I was there this past weekend, they had an information sheet that said acceptances and rejections would be mailed (snail mailed) February 15th. It didn't say "by Feb 15," I definitely have that in my notes. So I'm assuming that's their goal to have them in the mail on the 15th.

Regarding Iowa. They told us Feb 13 when I was there. They seemed unflinching on this, but then they decided to give a few of us an eary Christmas present. Thanks Santa Cyclone!!

Thanks so much! I guess I won't start stressing just yet! I really liked there and will definitely be at a crossroad IF I get in there as well as my state school!

Rejection from Tufts came today... *sigh* 🙁
Aww, zpink, I'm sorry! 🙁
I was rootin' 4 ya, too, since you were so anxious to hear from them & you've got such a cute avatar!! 🙂

Rejected from CSU today, didn't really expect to get in.

Rejected from CSU today, didn't really expect to get in.

Sorry to hear that. 🙁 By snail mail? I expect mine will be coming soon, too. Feels like such a long shot.

Thanks. Yes it was by snail mail. Letter was dated 1/22, and I'm in Pa if that gives you any indication. I also have heard nothing from Penn, KSU or Oregon. I'm assuming since it looks like KSU is done interviewing, I've been rejected there. So I'm really hoping to get into MN and Glasgow, MN especially. I'm so nervous for those interviews. Good luck to everyone else.

Keep your head up, Hobiecat! I am becoming more and more convinced that the application/admissions process is impossible to decode...I was rejected from MN, but waitlisted at CSU. The opposite is true for you...bad news from CSU but an interview at MN!!! So go out there and rock the socks off of the folks in MN. Keep your confidence up and good luck! 🙂

Don't be nervous, you'll do great! I'm convinced (or trying to convince myself) that regardless of what you say in an interview, if you're calm, collected, and composed, you're bound to impress them. Good luck!!

I got my rejection letter for CSU today🙁 btw I'm oos

Got my CSU rejection letter today also...snail mail, OOS

Has anyone that interviewed with Kansas in January heard anything? i interviewed on 1/5 and they said we would hear within 3 weeks. I know it's only been 3 weeks and one day...but i'm going crazy stalking my mailbox!

the anxiety dreams are getting out of control too! the other night i dreamt i received a big, fat envelope from K-state. for some reason i opened it outside on a really windy day and before i could even get my hands on the letter it blew away!!!😱

haha aww RubyJoe, what a nightmare that would be! I haven't heard anything yet but I assume we will be hearing either late this week or the beginning of next. I was in the second interview group and they said that the letters would be sent at the end of January.

Good to know I'm not the only one having nightmares... and here I thought I was special:laugh:

thanks shuvball! so, probably at least another couple of days for Kansas. oh, well more opportunities for entertaining dreams!

Just going to put out there -- at least dreams mean you've been sleeping.

Gah! I've been having nightmares, too. Mine this past weekend was about Iowa State, but still...it's depressing how a stupid dream can really affect what you think your chances are with a given school in real life.😛 Ah, psychoses, who doesn't love em.

In other news, I got my CSU rejection letter in the mail today. I'm OOS and the date of the letter was 1/22, though I didn't look at the postmark date. There was a note in the rejection saying if I had applied for FAVCIP admission, then my application is still under consideration. I did apply for that, but I ain't holding my breath!

It's funny how expectation plays a huge role in how you feel about things (at least, it does for me). I figured I wouldn't get in, I didn't, and I'm not phased. Congrats to all who got in! And chin up to those of you (us) that didn't. There are other schools out there for us! I just know it! 😀

What's FAVCIP?

Food Animal Veterinary Careers Incentive Program. It's not really a program, though, other than an admission thing where you can be considered again under the additional consideration of being interested in field related to food animal medicine.

I thought the FAVCIP spots were reserved for instate residents?

Go me! Tufts and Colorado (OOS) rejections came today, just as expected. Moving right along...

I thought the FAVCIP spots were reserved for instate residents?

They allow some OOSers to qualify, if there are any seats left after the assign them to ISers, I think. I forget exactly, but there is an explanation of it online somewhere. If anyone is really interested, let me know and I'll look it up.

Anyone know if all the invitations to interview for IS CSU have gone out? Where did Flyonthewall go? They seemed to be well informed heh.....

tufts yesterday and colorado today (oos for both; both via snail mail)

Rejected from CSU today as well OOS. Oh well, I didn't have high expectations...they did have a very tactful and informative rejection letter though.

Amberspyglass: loved your "splat;" so descriptive!

Agreed. I would definitely accept CSU's rejection letter as an OOS applicant to the RockStarKDub School of Vet Med.

Rejected from Tufts today...Kinda was expecting it OOS. Still have to hear from Penn (my IS) :luck:.

Oh...some people are saying that last year, they had interviews as late as March 😕 Anyone wanna clarify?

And to all those that got rejected from Tufts AND Colorado on the same day, ::hugs::. Because that just kind of hits below the belt, getting two rejections at once. But it seems like most of you have interviews elsewhere, so chin up! There's still hope (or at least, that's what I keep telling myself).

Thanks for the hug! Anyways, I called Penn today (had a little mailing snaffu with a school and called each other one to check on things). I was told the same thing as wi girl -- they do rolling admissions through the end of March with 2-2.5 weeks notice before interviews. ( WI Girl said: I just called admissions -- I too am still waiting, with SA and research checked. They told me they had scheduled food animal and equine through the 15th, but not the later weekends in February, and there are still dates in March. Just thought I'd put that out there ... apparently if you haven't heard back we're "still under consideration -- so you're still in the running". And yes, that was a direct quote from the nice admissions guy.")

Iowa's last set of interviews is Feb. 9th. THey meet around the 12th to make final decisions and notifications are e-mailed and sent via USPS on 2/15.

🙄3 more weeks to go!

Good to know I'm not the only one having nightmares... and here I thought I was special:laugh:

I had a dream that I got an email from Penn inviting me to interview March 21. It felt so real, it was such a bummer when I woke up!!😡

Haha, that happened to me a number of times last year with Penn. I had dreams that I got the interview invite in the mail, that I went to the interview and that I got in. Those are always hard to wake up from 😉

Rejection letter from Tufts today, ah piss 🙁 2 down, 4 to go....

I had one of those dreams this fall! I got accepted last minute (October) and had to leave my job right away and start school the next day. I had to mix in with everyone that had been there for a month!
It was a fun dream!🙂

I got rejected from VA-MD and Colorado today (totally didn't expect to get in hehe). Kinda feels good not to wonder anymore 😛

Yeah, I had a dream like that before I got my rejection letter from Tufts! But since the post office near me is notoriously slow, I dreamed that I got an interview invite from Tufts, but my interview was in 3 hours! I live in Baltimore, so I was quite panicked, so I sped to the airport and tried to get a flight right away, etc... more panic ensued. I would have rather had that than a rejection, though 🙁

LOL!
I kept having dreams this past fall before I submitted my applications that somehow the deadline crept up and I had to hit submit before I could proof read. I kept having this nightmare about not proof reading.... God forbid!😱

Maybe we can all get a cheaper rate on group therapy??

rejected from Tufts (IS) and CSU (OOS) today... not a good day

Sorry to hear that lcbaker 🙁

Everyone with rejections, stay positive. It only takes one yes!

Also, the nightmares don't end once you get in....they just change to being about gross anatomy!!

Ignore if you don't want to hear a lot of pointless complaining on my part but I am so mad right now I could spit...

I just lost one of my interviews because one of my schools emailed 2 days ago to ask where my Physics II course was. I had taken Physics I at a CC and then, because I had to go back to work teaching, I took a graduate level physics course at a well known university online to get the rest of my 8 hours. I also had a Biophysics course from my undergraduate caseload for good measure.

Anyway, my other schools emailed me about the issue BEFORE the start of spring semester because it wasn't the normal PHY I/PHY II series, and all of them accepted the grad level course + biophysics combination for my second semester of Physics II. Since I had not heard from this school, and I had sent them a copy of what courses I was taking for the Spring semester, I assumed that I was fine.

According to this school, I'll go ahead and call them IL because I am not feeling tactful, I was supposed to have discerned that I needed another Physics course because they had not counted it in my science GPA. There were no emails, no flags on my status page etc. They also insinuated that the grad level physics course was an education course (because the majority of the students were in a master's in physics education program) which in terms of difficulty is like saying your Calculus class was the equivalent to elementary school math, and I was justifiably insulted. I even sent links to assignments so they could see it was physics, but I was told by the counselor that she didn't even bother checking those because she already knew it was an education class, even though I took it, not her.

I am most upset because if they had just said something 2 weeks ago, I could have signed up for the course for this semester, or at least not bought the plane ticket! Sorry for all the vitriol but it seems a cruel trick to play on me at this point in the game.

I did get to tell the woman though that their petty insistence on a very narrow interpretation of a physics course load was going to be to their detriment, not mine. Hmph!

And if any adcoms are reading this, I would like to state for the record that my dealings with MN, Wis and VA-MD have been nothing but professional and courteous, and for this I thank you. 🙂

Bummer... but things happen how they are supposed to! You'll end up in a better spot than where you had this issue!
