Hi all, I'm a staunch fan of CI (and Mr. D'Onofrio), but I can't help but notice there are two episodes (that I've watched several times) in which veterinarians are bashed as being "animal" doctors and not "people" doctors. In fact in one episode, a zoo veterinarian is portrayed as an "animal" because he rapes women while the other guy (a medical doctor) watches. In the other episode, a woman walks into a party, intending to take care of a prized horse, and she is scorned (right before she is murdered) for being an "animal doctor." As if veterinary medicine isn't at least 100 species-timed more complicated than human medicine. Bastards.

and your point is?

someone mentioned on another forum that they heard an attendee at TNAVC ask another attendee "are you a real vet or just an MD?"

It's good for a laugh, but seriously, it's just TV. Anyone that has ever been remotely close to veterinary school knows it's hard core. Even the med students down here say "I don't know how you do it, at least we only have to learn one species"

People that worry about things like this TV show "slamming" vets have too much time on their hands. You should hear the things the "real surgeons" say about Grey's Anatomy and House MD lol! (Hint: It's the same kind of stuff we say about these vet shows)

Yeah, don't worry about it. Name a profession that's not ridiculed on TV these days. And in general veterinarians have had a better deal than a lot of others; think priests, lawyers, MDs, ...

Besides, you have to have some sense of humor about this sort of stuff.
