My MCAT score was low. I just retook my MCAT Exam on the last test date. I was originally was supposed to retake it in August but there was a power outage and I was forced to retake in September instead on the last date (nothing else was available to me). I was really confident that I was going to perform well, but during multiple times during the exam, a program started to load and was blocking my screen, making me unable to read passages and questions and hence answer questions appropriately. I was unable to let whatever this program was to run in the background either. I complained to the test administrator and she told me there was nothing she could do. I still had my exam scored even though there were many questions I had to blindly guess on because I have applied this cycle. The AAMC is still investigating. Would MD schools take this into consideration if I have another low score and allow me to take the January as an update? I know most schools do not take January scores but given the circumstances that were beyond my control (a power outage during one exam and computer problems the next time) would they make an exception? I submitted my exam for scoring in the event that I answered the questions I had no choice to blindly guess on correctly...plus it was the last test date...I had no alternative. My mind was frazzled throughout the rest of the test onward. The way I look at it, the situation is really unfair but I am sure I am not the only person who ever I had a similar problem.

I think when my score comes out it would not accurately portray me. My practice MCATs before the real exam were scored in the low 30s.

I plan on writing to each school to let them know what has happened and hope they take a January as an update. Any advice or has anyone had something similar happen to them? How do/did med schools respond?
