12 hour overnight shift on emergency dept. I don't want to jinx it, but it looks quiet finally. so let's get some late night entertainment.

Anyone know of any tv shows or movies (new preferably for both) to watch when I'm finally off tomorrow? I'm already watching new girl, modern family, &ow i met your mother, and dexter. So not them. Haven't seen a movie in about 3 month though.

So, Ross University is having an information seminar in downtown Houston. Since I have some free time now (all I do is work, and now I don't have to worry about med school acceptance), I think I'm going to RSVP and go. I really like free food, and I hear Ross attracts some pretty good looking girls. So why am I going? To get free food and hit on future med school babes. Does this make me a bad person?

BTW, Doc I really enjoyed all your previous articles on the risks of Carribean med schools vs DO, not only were they informative but you had the logic and stats to back em up! The only reason I get the Ross invites was because I started applying there just in case I didn't get into my DO schools, but once interviews came around, I stopped my application. But God, they won't leave me alone, I literally get 6 emails from them a day, plus they've called me a few times.

Holy crap. I definitely made a mistake talking to one of their representatives last year... I haven't stopped hearing from them yet.

yeah i go to SGU and there are definitely some WEIRD people that got in here..and i have no idea how they performed well in an interview...they basically want your money.

some people here also say that while US schools screen before they accept you..caribbean schools screen your 1st and 4th terms. who cares they have your money. and if you fail a midterm you decel and take the classes over again..which is more money.

this is also one of many reasons i have deferred MD admission to august 2012 to apply to DO school. that and while finishing my MPH here in my last term..the august MD class was 650...way too many people if you ask me...

not trying to be too harsh..because people definitely do well here and are successful physicians..you'll just have a lot of debt and less room to specialize if that's what you want to do..

Thanks. I'm really excited for season 2 to start. It's funny because my boyfriend started watching it and I made fun of him before I started watching. Now I'm the one that's hooked! I'm going to have to check out the books.

Ran 6 marathons in 3 years. Now moving on to bodybuilding. I don't have the typical build of a runner, but I still can run a 3:22 marathon.

2 halfs, 62-mile Sawtooth mountain relay (beautiful!) with a team, and various "kays for causes" (aka 5k's for Race for the Cure, etc). There's a new one in the NW called The Dirty Dash, it's a 10k in the mountains with all sorts of obstacles, and lots of mud pits. It's awesome.
Worked in a gym for 2 years prior to my ER gig, so weightlifting/crossfit/etc. Bodybuilding.com's world headquarters are in town, so there's a huge local interest for the meathead side of the spectrum. I try to keep it in the middle 😉

Also, golf and snowboarding. I've done both in the same day once 😀

I played soccer for Boston College for two years (walk on) and I represented Bangladesh in the U-17 world cup qualifiers. Lol, ever since graduating I've been trying my hands at other sports such as golf and squash

Looks like a lot of you play golf! I'm not too big a fan, but my gym coach always told us that golf is the best activity one can learn... since that's what all the big time executives play. I just suck at it. 🙄

As for me, basketball and tennis are my main sports. Varsity team captain for both in HS, won some state/national championships! I haven't really played competitively since then though... since I was too obsessive about it and figured if I wanted to do well in college, I needed to drop these. Hard choice, but I'm very happy with my decision.

I've gotten REALLY out of shape since HS (like 50+ pounds), but I've been working out a lot for the past month trying to get "HS skinny". Still got a LONG ways to go though... ughh. I hate you 4 years of late night studying + taco bell.

I've always wanted to run a marathon. There are so many where I live, but I never take advantage of it. How long do ya'll train for them?

Most marathon training plans are 4 months long. You may need more time if you are not running consistently.

Taco bell for me. There's one a little too close to where I live. Like 3 minutes away. Ughh. I usually get something off the fresco menu. I love the tomato,onion,cilantro mix they put.

Sonic is nearby too. Grilled chicken sandwich for the win! The cheddar peppers and mozzarella sticks are such a horrible temptation though... sometimes I succumb to the pressure. 🙁

I'm a total cell bio nerd so I love the aerobic respiration/transcription/translation/replication/genetics stuff. The only thing that I wasn't a big fan of in genetics was the hardy weinberg stuff. The concept was cool, but it was difficult to see the concept reflected in the math sometimes.

Typically no. You may have 1 passage on it, if at all. This stuff will probably be integrated into the free-standing questions.

From what TPR people told me, the kidney and nervous system stuff was high yield. And if I remember correctly, I had a separate passage over both when I took the MCAT.

It's funny cuz it's like, you're so nervous you have to pee. Get it? Lulz.

Yeah I'm definitley upset about the NBA lockout. I keep up with basketball daily during the season... I love it. I'm pretty confident the entire season is going to be cancelled... the players don't care. And the labor talks aren't budging either side. Oh well...

Lions and Packers are doing great this season (although, it's understood with the Packers. Rogers is a monster). My Texans have lost the last 2 games. They just can't close out the 4th quarter, it's ridiculous. They should've won against the Ravens... they were freaking 3-1 at one point! Same nonsense every season. Ughhh.

AZCOM...seemed like a nice place and the jewish community of phoenix is huge! well see how the rest of the cycle plays out before i make my decision...it was my first interview and i got DMU KCUMB and Western coming up so its nice to have the pressure taken off a bit cant wait to visit DMU and KCUMB i have only heard great things!

its times like these i wish LA had a football team id love to go to a game but then again no team is better than the raiders hahahaha
lol as for as the bball stalemate...i think that the owners and players should each take a 50% paycut and use the money to fund medicare 😛
