latest date to take DAT/upper divs AFTER applying?

I plan to apply to dental school this june/july (early) but I'm also wondering when the latest date I could take the DATs and any additional upper divs that can be later submitted for consideration.

I'm going to take DAT this summer and maybe one upper div during fall but in case worse comes to worst I want to be able to submit new grades/scores to beef up my app

Typically for what I hear from admissions deans and read on here, you want to have everything done by August. People start to receive interviews in August and you want to be one of them (or as early as possible).

You could take classes also in the next fall AFTER your application is completed. You have academic update period for this purpose, you could put those future classes in the planned section so schools could see you're planning on taking them. I think it's a good idea to not put classes you're not certain about actually taking, might save you a hussle later on.

I took 17 credit hours in the fall (including microbio) and went on 4 interviews during that time - everything worked out. Personally though, I would take it in the summer. Secondaries shouldn’t take you very long at all.

It was fine! I submitted way after my DAT was uploaded (in Dec), and I still got post-dec interviews. Of course it also depends on the rest of your app. I assume if I actually submitted earlier I would have still done fine as well. I think if you're looking at more in-state schools doing it late may not work well, but private/semi-private you will be fine.
