I'm trying to find documentation of the standard 1 year expiration date for dispensed prescriptions. I've got a provider who gets very irritated that their patient's chronic meds expire after one year, even if they don't use all refills since the rx is over a year old.
All I can find is the laws relating to controlled drugs. Is there no such law? Thanks for the help.

Check with your state rules/regs- according to federal law, non-controls don't have that 12 month expiration. Most states, however, have adopted that policy (or at least the states I've practiced in have).
