Hi forum! I'm planning on starting pre-med someday, but I have one issue in mind... I've been out of school for a couple of years, and I haven't had any good course exposure... so I'm kind of flabby in terms of my sciences and maths. I'm a quick learner though. But I don't think I have any good resources to help myself with. I want to study up before entering any kind of school in order to ease the workload by then, rather than feeling super stressed because I'd be learning everything virtually from scratch. It'd be detrimental to me if I did that, then, for whatever reason, dropped out only to possibly be in debt... So... any suggestions on what I could use? I have a few textbooks and workbooks but they may be a couple of years outdated. I have some sites and iOS apps too. I thought maybe you guys know best, so I decided to ask here!

Thank you!

EDIT: And of course! I know the basics. I've been exposed enough with the basics to know or recognize the names and functions of certain things. I just want a better understanding of everything prior to anything. I don't want to be some schmuck in school.

Yeah, I remember looking at a college's syllabus for a Chem class. Saw they were pretty much starting from the very beginning so I asked one professor and she explained. I just want to be prepared considering my time away... I read about the grueling path ahead, and it makes me wonder if it'd even be possible for someone like me... Even though I have heard about autodidact surgeons in top news, so I'm not *that* nervous.

Either way, thank you!

Khan Academy and Freelance-Teacher videos helped me tremendously for physics and chemistry.

I think all schools pretty much require you take pre-calculus prior to taking Trig/Alg based Physics. However, i didn't.The only math i took in undergrad was statistics. I convinced my professor i didn't need pre-calc. I learned everything about pre-calculus on my own with the help of Khan Academy and Free-Lance Teach videos and got an A in my Physics class. Also got an A in Gen. Chem I ( Inorganic) class thanks to Khan Academy. It wasn't easy, but it definitely saved me some money. Both are great websites to review some of the course contents prior to taking the classes.
Hope this helps.

Don't worry about studying beforehand at all for any courses. I'm guessing you had at least bio and chem in high school, which you probably do not remember. But, college profs. teach high school level bio/chem in the first couple weeks of class anyway so that everybody is on the same page.

No need to prepare before a course begins (they are introductory for a reason). Just work hard once it begins and try your best not to fall behind or miss class and you'll be fine.

You will pick up quickly. 100 level classes are preeetty basic. The best thing you can do now is establish some form of study schedule that you will be able to stick to! Do not let yourself fall behind once classes start and do not think you can get away with cramming, a little bit everyday is much more likely to lead to success!

You can try MIT's free classes to learn a little before you start college. You can also get older editions of textbooks online for pretty cheap. The first few chapters of freshman chemistry, biology and physics haven't changed much in the last few years, so the material will still be current.

Thank you all for your answers and support! 🙂

I have decided that I will start college soon then. Thank you, wish you all the best!
