Anyone else have a least favorite/worst subject to study class?

Mine is histo/phys. I know its important, but I just can't get into it. Anatomy or path? Bring it on!! Immuno--that's interesting. Histo/phys...😴 I need to care...it's a 6 credit course. I'm sure I'll pass it, but still...I hate it! 😡

Epidemiology hands down. Ugh. It's so boring.

Last semester histo...isn't as bad this semester though.

Two words:

GROSS ANATOMY.

Ugh. Can't stand it. I am so glad I never had any aspirations towards being a surgeon, because my absolute hatred of gross anatomy would have been heartbreaking.

On the other hand, I 😍 physiology.

Yay for USING your brain instead of MEMORIZING things about it!

The class you just took an impossibly hard exam in, and feel like failure de jour in?!?! +pissed+ (Not that it's finals or anything!)...

Seriously, I'd have to say infectious agents was my least favorite... Lists and lists of things to memorize, with no thought behind it... I 😍 Path😍

I really don't enjoy parasitology at all. It seems like we have three million lectures a week and I think it is only a 2 credit course. It sucks. It takes too much time, and I hate using the microscope. At least in histology we use the virtual scope so I don't get sick to my stomach.

omg, I think we're the same person!

Because I seem to be completely incapable of memorizing things, I sometimes try to USE my brain in anatomy. This never works out. Take, for instance, the caudal cervical ganglion. I see it on a specimen, I remember what it is and that I've seen it there before, and I remember that its name means "ganglion of the *ss-neck." This does not get one full credit on an exam.

On Friday's exam, the instuctor pinned the torus pyloricus. I remembered what it was, and that it was near the pylorus in the cow (& pig). So I wrote down "taurus pylorus." Hey, it even rhyhmes!

Now if we don't know what the hell something is in anatomy, we just call it the *ss-neck ganglion/lymph node/artery/muscle.

histo and phys together? thats interesting...

Didn't care for Histo, and Neuro was a beast and a pain... Parasit wasn't much fun either.

For me, it is hands down Histo and Nutrition.

As one of our teachers said yesterday..."Have yall taken nutrition yet? God, I bet yall were bored ****less in there!"

I usually agree with the hating to just memorize stuff (that's mainly why I despised histo), but I love anatomy!

Physiology is by far my favorite.

Histo...or as we call it, Micro anatomy. I have a problem with a few aspects of the class including the fact that our professor doesn't keep to the micro anatomy and the tests frustrate me.

I disagree with critterfixer, I 😍 parasitology. But for me it has more to do with the professor than the actual subject.

I hate...I HATE...I HATE HISTOLOGY.

I'm slightly color blind for blue and purple and have difficulty sometimes telling the difference the two (and grey-ish blue). Ergo, identifying the different cells on the white and red cell series smears were AWFUL. Plus we don't use virtual microscope and my slides were almost always faded compared to the relatively fresh cut slides for the test practicals. 👎 Plus it had even more minutia to memorize than anatomy. I have a feeling clin path is not going to be my bag, baby. 🙄

I am not super fond of anatomy, but there is something kinda fun about having the specimen in front of you and you finally find something. I had that moment with the proximal accessory (check) ligament of the thoracic limb today. 😎

Did you play with the stay apparatus? So cool to see how it actually works and to be able to hold it rather than staring at slides.

Oh, no doubt, she is a great teacher! I've never met anyone so passionate about creepy crawlies. And she brings us coffee and snacks on test days.

Even still, I hate the subject.

Epidemiology and Toxicology tie for me. Although, at least our epi professor knew it was boring and tried to make it seem more interesting...

I'm surprised to hear so many people dislike parasit. I actually really enjoyed that class. But, everyone has their own interests.

On a sort of similar note, how much influence does the professor play in your determination of your least favorite class? My least interesting subjects and most boring professors seem to always go together. If I have a great professor I'm much more inclined to like the class, obviously. I'm just not sure there's much that can be done with epi and tox.

Oh man, in my Organic Chem lab (I know, not a vet class, but still), the two colorblind guys decided to be lab partners. Let me tell you, it took them HOURS to do the titrations. It was horrible. Eventually I had to sit with them and tell them when the color changed. I felt bad for them, but seriously....why pair up with the ONLY OTHER PERSON in the class who is also colorblind? WHY?

Yeah, I'll give you an example:

Iris%20Light%20Purple%201.jpg

This was listed as a "light purple" iris. It looks light blue to me. These hyacinth are also listed as purple, but they look almost more blue to me. 🙁

What do the white cell and red cell series look like? A bunch of cells of various degrees of purple, blue, and slightly pink. 😡 I would try quizzing myself on the CD tutorials we have for each unit and I'd just give up in disgust trying to tell the difference. 🙁

See, for me, using my brain seems to be my biggest downfall.
Histo? Anatomy? Bring it on, no problemo. Immunology? I got an B, and I only now remember that IgA is the one associated with secretions.
Phys? I study every single freaking day, am so way on top of it, give it my serious 100% attention, efforts that would've guaranteed me an A in undergrad? Now buys me a D or a C on every stupid phys exam!!! Ugh!

I have my suspicions that this is not a good thing. 😉
