It may sound annoying, but it's really not so bad. I'm pretty sure all of my guy friends take off their ties without untying them and hang them up for next time. And girls... we get off easy 😉

Yeah I agree. I was hating this the whole summer and dreading it, but its not that bad. And everyone does look really nice and professional in class! At least, for girls its not that bad. I would hate to wear a tie everyday!

It's not the clothes that I have a problem with, it's the extra time. I understand that it's not that bad, but the little things add up. erie interviews up until april I believe. If your stats are lacking in any area then dont apply. If you have a higher MCAT or average MCAT with a high GPA then go for it.

I took that to mean only health related and it depends on if your research was health related or not.

I don't see why not. Write about it in a way that does make it significant to your overall experience. You dont have to dwell on it, but if it takes away space from other more valuable experiences that you would like to elaborate on, then I say dont mention it.

I think if for some reason you can't get enough length for you secondary then put something in about it. Mainly though I would suggest focusing on two or three main activities that really meant a lot to you rather than trying to mention everything.

Sounds like you should leave it out then. I'm guessing you listed in your AACOMAS so you can always talk about it more if the opportunity arises in an interview.

another quick question: I didn't have the phone numbers of my recommenders but wanted to submit the secondary ASAP. Do you think they'll mind if I just email the numbers? or is this not even important? I might even have to change a recommender since one is basically ignoring me, and I went ahead and asked another prof. just in case. Think this would be a huge deal either? I can't see it being a problem....ugh hate recommendations!!!!!!

I dont think it is necessary, but it wouldnt hurt to email the numbers. I think I also changed recommenders after I included contact info on my application without informing them and it wasnt a problem. Lots of luck!

I think it's fine if you just e-mail the numbers. My husband ended up using a different DO LOR so he just e-mailed each school to let them know of the change and none had a problem with it.

Good point. My husband and I usually go to bed pretty late because we're more night owls and have some classes until 9 p.m. I was just watching some episodes of Girls Next Door from season 1 that my husband bought me for Christmas. Guess it's time to head for bed now. Strangely enough I haven't heard back from LECOM after they told me on November 29 I would hearing from them soon. 🙄 Oh well, doesn't matter now. My husband just mailed withdrawal to them today. If anyone has any more questions you will just have to ask tomorrow, unless DrA plans on staying awake for the rest of the shift. 😉

If not..does anyone know of the best hotel/motel to stay at near the school?
Also, should I rent a car? (Im flying in from Southern California) Or are taxis readily available? Because of weather, I wasnt sure what the best way was or what others were doing.

I don't know about the student-host program, but in the interview packet they sent a list of hotels. I'm staying at the Mariott, and they have a free airport shuttle, and I'm sure you could order a taxi to/from the interview. I am renting a car because I want to drive around and look at the area a bit, and you can rent a car for a day pretty cheap.

Some hotels offer a shuttle to LECOM for your interview. I don't know which ones though, I've just seen it at the school. I'm sure its somewhere on SDN.

So, I have been emailing and calling LECOM for months now trying to convince them that I actually do have all of the required courses that I need. I finally got the required documentation about 8 weeks ago, called the office and they told me exactly who to send it to. So, I did that and never heard back. Finally I hear back 2 days ago and get a really bitchy email from some woman saying that it's my responsibility to take care of this and blah blah blah. If she had taken the time to look at the files I sent her she would have seen that they were exactly what she needed. So I wrote her back telling her how disgusted I was with them, I mean come on 8 weeks to get back to someone, and I withdrew my application. I come home today to find my interview letter waiting. Too little to late. I have heard nothing good about this school. It's funny how they make such a big deal out of students having to look profession in class when their admissions representatives don't even know how to act the part.

Sorry to all of you who really like it there, or really want to go there. I just can't believe how they act towards their potential students. It really is a turn off.

I stayed at the Comfort Inn on 12th St. It was $75. Car Rental was ~$20. So, less than $100 for everything which I found to be the cheapest route. The hotels that offered the shuttle were more expensive and it was nice to be able to drive around the area.

You shouldn't let admissions representatives deter you from going to a particular school. Believe me, nobody likes dealing with admissions people, nor do they enjoy dealing with applicants, I'm sure. You just have to be persistant and on top of things. I just kept calling them and left messages when I had issues. It paid off when everything got cleared up. I made sure to remain pleasant, even when I was irritated. Sometimes you gotta bite the bullet.

You only need to "formally withdraw" your applications if you are accepted to a school and decide not to go there. Even then, "need" is relative, but it's the widely regarded, polite thing to do.
If you haven't been accepted, or you haven't accepted an interview slot, there is no need to contact the school. If you are offered an interview and you do not wish to go, just politely (but promptly) decline so that others can be given the opportunity to attend.

I interviewed in December and the day was pretty low-key. Based on the interview feedback I had expected the interview to be more high stress. I thought my interviewers were responsive and fairly conversational (one of them more so than the other). There were 8 total interviewees, I believe.
I had chosen PBL as my top choice then, but was accepted to lecture based. They said PBL was full at that time (early Dec). However, I may not have been the best candidate as I haven't really taken any science classes since 2002 and I had mentioned my lack of recent science as a weakness and wondered if PBL would be more difficult because of it.

Any idea how long it takes for the deposit checks to be cashed? It has been 2 weeks since they received it and it still has not been taken out of my account. It's a little daunting to be have a 1500 check pending....

I contacted the admission office and was told that usually it happens fairly quickly and that it depends on how busy the finance office is. At any rate 2 weeks seems like a long time.

Congratulations on the interview invite! My day was very laid back and actually really nice! I interviewed in October along with 5 guys and 1 other girl. The interviewers (1 guy 1 girl) were really friendly and laid back, and when I completely misunderstood the first question, they let me rethink and start over! The guy interviewer even made a joke which lightened the mood a lot. You rank your choices of the 4 curriculum, but it has no effect on your acceptance (so they say at the interview at least...I was really worried about that too!). They put your rankings in a separate file and after the admissions committee accepts you, then they look at your rankings and place you in a group. They say you can call within 24 hours or so after your interview if you decide to change your rankings. Be sure and look at the interview feedback for the questions they ask...they really do just ask those questions! Good luck!!

Alright everyone looking at LECOM erie, on Thursday I am canceling my interview to LECOM erie for February 1st(Tomorrow I'm flying all day). Interviews are costing me a lot of money and I just received one to KCUMB that I really want to attend. That being said, since I have received one acceptance I am going to be canceling my interview spot at Erie so that someone else gets a chance to either interview earlier or actually gets an interview. So U.S. News statistics say that for 2005 only 37% of out of state interviewers got accepted. Did anyone hear any more recent numbers?

Also SoCal, I chose Erie b/c they have excellent board scores and very good residency matches. I have two friends who graduated from LECOM-Erie and both are in very competitive residencies (ortho and ENT). I got into 5 schools and chose this one. The attendance policy can't hurt.

Omg. I *wish* I had 3 within a week and a half.

I'm from FL, so I left on Sunday. On Monday I had WVSOM, then I caught a flight to CA (which landed at 1am) for an interview at Touro-CA on Tuesday then caught the red eye over to NYC for an interview at Touro-NY yesterday.

3 interviews, 3 states, 3 days and I changed clothes for my TouroNY interview in JFK airport....It was not a fun experience. ENJOY that you have a week and a half!

I'm just now willing myself out of bed. lol. 😴

See, that's how I looked at it. If they'd been spaced out I would have had airfare PLUS hotel.

Interviewed today.. I loved the school! Even more than the Bradenton one.. I was not expecting that!!

Yeah, the interview went well today I think! I liked the school, but I'm not really sure about the city. I really like the options as far as the different learning pathways. Today they said that there were a few spots available in all pathways still. The new wellness center looks wonderful.

Anyways, I just got home, and all of my flights were delayed! Spent 2 hours sitting in the penalty box at DTW. Anyways, it was nice to meet you! We had a large group. I wasn't expecting that many people. I missed out on the financial aid presentation, no big deal though. Good luck to everyone that got interviews coming up. It was really laid back, my interviewers chatted with me for a while, and it was not stressful at all.

Oh, and on the manditory attendance. Our tour guide today, who is a 2nd year student, kept stressing that the "manditory attendance" was not entirely enforced and that he was supposed to be in a lecture at the time that he was giving our tour.
