How long do these statements have to be typically? About a page? The MPH websites I have looked at don't really give a word limit like the DO or MD applications.

Thanks!

Hihi!

I think a good target is 1-1.5 pages single-spaced at 12 point font. That's about how long mine was. Don't make it too long (no more than 2 pages), since adcoms have hundreds (and sometimes thousands) of applications to read. Less than one full page doesn't give enough space to get what you need in. I hope this helps!

Out of the schools I applied to Columbia I think had a word limit of about 650 while Yale had theirs set at 800 words. Berkeley and JHSPH said under 2 pages, so like Doc said target 1 to 1.5 for schools that dont specifiy a word limit. Good Luck

I remember that Emory's had a form that you had to adjust your writing to stay within the limits, which was about equivalent to a page with one in margins and a 12 point font. I wrote mine to fit those specifications and then used pretty much the same essay for the other schools I applied to.
