It's a relief to hear that! I was terrified that we might have to wait until June or July. I would really like to have a sense of stability (or maybe lack thereof---hope not!) in knowing that medical school is not far upon the horizon.

More or less I am paranoid about any thin envelopes in the mail box. aha:laugh:

Yeah, I'm starting to get paranoid here. Every day that goes by, I get less and less confident. :scared:

An interview invite for May/June is on its way, but that's no guarantee of anything. Obviously, there's something that is making them think I'm not prime applicant meat. And, something just tells me that UCD is more competitive, but that could be completely untrue. I just get the feeling that it is; however, that may be because it's my first choice. That's the school I'm really nervous about, and the one that is probably sending a rejection letter as we speak!
 
No! You're a very good applicant. Just stay neutral......I am terrified of the mailbox simply because that is home to the thin envelope. At this point, I even wonder if Fed-Ex has dropped off my package at someone else's house. 😱 :laugh: I think someone said UCD is competitive...but then again, with close to 3,000 apps, this is as competitive as any very good medical school in the United States.
 
That's kind of you to say, but obviously I'm not that great if I wasn't picked for a first round interview. 🙄

Well, today I officially join the ranks of the RCSI rejects. Hurray!

Oh, and don't believe anything ABP tells you over the phone about your application. They told me a few times not to worry and that I am guaranteed a second round interview spot. But my rejection was dated March 14!
 
My rejection from Trinity came today. was sent from newport, so i guess the rejections are sent from APB. 1 down, 3 to go.
 
I am sooooo sorry guys. Don't fret yet. you can't give up. We have to stick together and support each other.
 
Yeah, they come from California. The rejection from RCSI is cold too. It's only 5 sentences, but they're all broken apart to make it seem like a page-long letter. :laugh:

Oh, well. 1 down, 1 to go.
 
Sorry to hear that guys, better luck with your other applications. I'm anxiously awaiting my Trinity decision, although anything but a rejection would be a surprise!
 
Yeah, I suddenly expect nothing but a rejection from UCD. It may be the repercussions of the RCSI rejection, but I no longer care. :laugh: Oh, well.

Ugh, I am sorry. I fret over everything, and there comes a point where only someone above knows what is right for you.

That means that mine will be here by tomorrow or Saturday. Oh gosh, I am terrified. The first rejection I received---I thought that it was from ALL of the schools to which I applied. Awful moment. 3 more acceptances to go. :luck:
 
hey guys, i just stumbled upon this site the other day. i've also applied to the ABP and am a little unsure of how things work. I talked to the AB people the other day and apparently am not receiving a letter of rejection from Cork, so obviously this doesn't mean that I am in for sure, but what specifically does it mean from here on out? anybody know?

Good! Perhaps this means that you will be receiving an acceptance or wait-list from Cork. I think you'll know once something arrives in the mail. I have no idea as to when the schools may or might have mailed out such materials.
Wow, I am surprised that the ABP was so candid with you--- regarding your application status. I am too shy to delve into the details. I figure I'll deal with it when it comes in the mail.
 
Take everything ABP says with a grain of salt. They told me I had an interview at RCSI when they had a rejection letter in hand.

Thanks. I'm actually not as devestated as I thought I'd be. I'm more upset at the dishonesty that occured over the phone. If I get into UCD, I still plan on attending, but it's hard to stay positive after a rejection.

Edit: Also, my supposed best friend turned into a complete jerk. I told him I got rejected, and he basically had no sympathy for me. Then, I told him I'd be more upset if I don't get into UCD, and he wrote this (it was over AIM):

"Wha, wha, I'm playing the world's smallest violin for you."

That's f-ed up.

I don't really know why I'm friends with him. He really doesn't care about anything if it doesn't involve him. He called me twice last night after I blocked him, but I didn't answer; he didn't leave a message though.

Anyway, it seems like the time is finally here. I had a dream last night that I got rejected from UCD. :scared:
 
Haha, I know. Some "friend", right? 🙄 Oh, well. I was the bass player in his band, but he can find himself a new bass player for all I care. 😡

Oh dear. People can be awful....even so-called "friends". Just erase those remarks away and let him cool off....ie, don't give him the time of day!

No, not yet. But today may be the day that I receive a letter in the mail--if you know what I mean. Now that I know that Trinity rejections are going out, I am scared. That would be the ultimate upset for me at this point.

Will update with either outcome though. I am sure UCC and UCD will be coming up as well.
 
Yeah. Now that Trinity is sending out responses, UCD and UCC can't be far behind. I'll let you know what happens with UCD either way.

Damn, I never thought I'd be depressed to see money still in my account. 🙁 I got that on-line banking so I could check if the courier thing was taken out of my account, and there's nothing about it in there.
 
hmm. I am thinking that maybe prior to opening this account, the money for the courier service was already withdrawn. I don't know. I can't even remember how much it was....and come to think of it, $22 per school (or all together??) sounds like a lot of money....considering the schools can contact the ABP via email and the ABP sends out everything from California which is relatively inexpensive---especially wrt rejection letters which weigh nothing at all. btw, no new information today from me.

I am wondering whether or not they will notify you if you are placed on the waiting list at one of the schools. 😕
 
The $22 is only for an acceptance. They send you all the information at once, and I guess the $22 is for insurance, first class delivery, whatever. They probably also charge a little extra to make some money. The rejections are just sent regular mail, so you wouldn't be charged anything for that.

I can't check my history earlier than February, so I can't tell if they took it out already. Do you have a history for your account that you used?
 
It is official. I am out of the rat race.

I got my rejection letter from Trinity College Dublin today.

Just a thought.....Is there anyone who does get accepted in these programs? So far all I've been hearing about is rejection letters.

To make it worse, I am out of town and there is no one around to help ease the pain.

Life is S***ty sometimes.

Did you apply to any of the other Irish schools?
 
Man, that blows. Sorry gmacpac. I met my girlfriend at a pub after work, and I almost had a panic attack waiting to check the mailbox. I finally had to go home, or I would have gone into a full-blown attack. Luckily, I got nothing today. No news is good news as far as I'm concerned.

No, I don't. My father helped pay for my apps with his credit card. Somehow I think it (courier fee) got mashed together with the application fee. Like whatever the app fee was + courier fee. There might not be a distinction on your statement. It may just give a lump sum for the ABP.

I am still curious whether or not applicants will receive a letter regarding wait-listing.

Say one does get an acceptance in August.....how do you pack up your bags, get refunds for money spent on your second plan, find a place to live, get acclimated and so on???

I applied to RCSI, and UCC. I haven't heard anything from them yet. At this point I am not being optimistic about anything.

I sure hope you get relief.

This is just the beginning of one big challenge (medschool)---I wish you well with the rest of your apps...even though I understand that nothing can be said to make you feel better at this moment. Tomorrow is a fresh day...and you will get in somewhere.
 
No idea, doc. I'm hoping I don't have to wait that long to find out. Of course, if it means an acceptance, I'd certainly go. Obviously, my mood has changed a bit since being rejected from RCSI. 🙄

My online banking won't let me look that far back to see when I submitted the application fee, so I can't tell if it just took everything out at once. I'm hoping it did, because if not, I'm not likely to get an acceptance. 🙁

You're not out of the rat race gmac!!! You still have RCSI and UCC! Didn't you get an interview to RCSI?

My girlfriend doesn't even know why I left. I just said I didn't want to be there anymore and left! That probably wasn't the best move, but I was on the verge of a nervous breakdown. :laugh: I texted her to tell her I was having a panic attack, but I haven't gotten a response. At least she cares. 🙄

🙂 I am sorry that you were affected by this so much today! Unfortunately, loved ones, no matter how much they care and love, they simply do not understand the nature of this process: the stress, the neurosis, the panic attacks, the paranoia and so on. She will call, don't worry. I was pretty upset with my RCSI letter, but then again, there are just too many good applicants. It's nothing personal.

Like I said before, I thought the letter was a rejection from all of the schools before I looked at the letterhead. I totally freaked out....in a "it's going to be okay, this is not meant to be" sort of way.

Ahhh, I am afraid of tomorrow. Feel better McDuck!!! You're gonna get in somewhere....what's in the plan is in the plan!
 
I can't stand it! I am out of town and have been waiting for my mom to call me with the bad news! Nothing in the mail today...if I am going to be rejected I just want it to happen already.

Before the first round of interviews, does anyone know if rejections or interview invites went out first?

I just wanna know...
 
I haven't heard back from any of the schools yet. Then again, I submitted my completed application to ABP (for RCSI GEP, and TCD) at the beginning of February, and my application to UCD in March. I don't know if there is any rhyme or reason to any of this. As you can see, McDuck was verbally told to rest assured and await his interview and he recieved a rejection. It could be a rolling thing.

To answer your question, I recieved my interview notice for RCSI on Feb 20, and interviewed on Mar 23. McDuck's rejection letter was dated Mar 14 and postmarked for Mar 23. Does any of this make much sense? No. But that's admissions for you - HUGE crapshoot! It's nice to know when people are getting admitted/denied/waitlisted, but at the end of the day, as long as you don't have a letter of any kind in hand, it shouldn't make a difference.
