letter of rec question

Would it be especially poor form to ask a letter writer to see the letter they wrote for you, after having matched?

in my opinion, yes. when you sign the form waiving your right to see the letter, i consider that to mean forever. i'm guessing a lot of people wouldn't be put off by such a request, but personally i would not do it.

Potentially your program that you start at in July would show you your file. Of course, I don't know if this is not permitted, unethical, or otherwise frowned upon. I have never tried to see mine. But I know we are permitted to see all of our evaluations, etc.

You are going to make a great pathologist, flip flopping already

I think it would be awkward and poor form. You can try to see the letters once you match. Another way to get around this is if you interview at a program and a friend happens to be a resident there. If that person happens to take you to lunch or dinner or interview you, he/she will have your file. You could ask after the fact...depends on how cool your friend is though 🙂
