Hey guys,

I only managed to get letters of recommendation from my research professor, a dentist I am shadowing, and my pastor.

I know most schools require LORs from 1 Upper div bio prof, 1 research or other prof, and 1 from a community service person or whatever. Are there any other schools like Loma Linda that would accept the combination of LORs I managed to receive (1 research professor, 1 dentist, and 1 pastor)?

I don't know of any off the top of my head. I wouldn't base the schools you apply to off of your letters of recommendation though...is it possible for you to secure any more letters, like one from a science professor perhaps?

Most schools require at least one or two letters from science professors, I'm not sure if you had your research prof for a science class. Usually a Bio professors letter is highly recommended or preferred. A pastor's letter will probably be unacceptable or will not be read since a pastor has no objective way to access your academic skills.

The recommended 4 letters are:

1. Bio Professor
2. Another Science Professor
3. A 3rd Science Prof or Liberal Arts Prof
4. Dentist

Also, go to the schools' websites to check it out for yourself. Some schools specifically state that they want 2 letters from sci professors that you had for lecture component of the classes. I have LOEs from 2 sci and 1 dentist, which satisfies most of the school's LOE requirement, but I could not apply to some schools b/c I don't have the 3rd non-science or community service letter.

Yes many schools accept a mixture. You need to see for yourself what letters you still need for the schools you are interested in. You likely need to seek out a dental professional for a letter, and you may also need a secondary science letter (I assume your research professor is also a science professor).
