Is there any reason to think that it would be a problem if a school got some of my letters of recommendation before I was able to submit the secondary application? I would hope they'd just file them away and pull them out when the secondary comes in.

I think I'm just getting paranoid now.

It depends on the school. Were you invited to fill out the secondary for the school in question? I know that UCSF destroys letters that are sent before a secondary invite.

Yeah, i'm only having letters sent to schools where I've been invited to submit a secondary. I just know that I won't get some of them done before the letters get in. Sorry, should have clarified.

That's unfortunate. At my school, they send out all of the letters at once. Although it used to be convenient in years past when AMCAS sent out the primary app to all designated schools at once, now it's just a hassle. I called every school on my list just to make sure that I could send in my recommendations even before I heard from them at all. Every one said it would be fine.

I know my school sent out all of my letters around mid-July and some of the schools got them before I submitted my secondary (or even got one for that matter). I didn't even think it would be a problem, so I didn't follow up with any of them to make sure they weren't going to destroy my letters. It hasn't been a problem either - all of my apps are complete at all of the schools I applied to. I don't really think it should be an issue for you.

My committee sent some letters before I sent back the secondary. There wasn't any problem associated with it. As long as they don't send it to schools that screen, it should be fine. Schools should create your file once they recieve AMCAS app.

It depends on the school: UCLA does not keep letters unless they requested them. The rest of the schools I applied to have received my LORS before even e-mailing the secondary, and it was not a problem for any of them but UCLA.
