since no one responded on the MTX thread -

how is everyone coping with the folinic acid shortage? It's on backorder through the manufacturer with no release date published. We switched all of our FOLFOX and FOLFIRI patients to capecitabine. So more copays for patients. and more side effects.

except for our study patients - we've got about 3 grams which can last study patients about 2 weeks at this point.

Our policy is to just tell them that we switched drug manufacturers and that the new methotrexate works really, really well and that the new 5-FU is now watered down like the Koolaid from summer camp. Less paperwork and more time playing Freecell.

this is mostly for colon cancer pts, not using MTX. We have changed people to the oral 5-FU but the studies all show increased side effects, so we'll see.
